Screed's Vics, Raiders, and ST Gozantis

By Admiral Calkins, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

I'm playing a veteran opponent next week in our league, so while the self-imposed limits on certain upgrades is not in effect, I still wanted to use a Commander that I have never used before. Enter Admiral Screed. And MSU seemed like a good fit for him. Just looking for some feedback on this list before I play them in two weeks. One option that I considered is to drop the TIE Fighters for another Raider (which would bring me up to 391), but wanted some fighter coverage in case I face a heavy squadron fleet. Thanks in advance.

Commander: Admiral Screed

Assault: Opening Salvo

Gozanti Cruisers (23)
• Slicer Tools (7)
= 30 Points

Squadrons:
• 6 x TIE Fighter Squadron (48)
= 48 Points

Total Points: 386

Since I didn't get much feedback, I'll just assumed that it was that bad and tinker with it a little more. Replaced Demo with a VSD-II and the TIEs with Ciena and Valen. Not sure though if I should have H9s or Spinals on the Vic though. Also up for removing Kallus for something else (Titus?) or a slightly larger bid. Thanks in advance.

Generally works the other way around, but ok. If it were bad you’d be getting walls of text ;)

I don’t like H9s on a VSD, which can generate accuracies just fine. Spinal rocks, and gives it an obstructed ISD-2 front arc shot at long range.

Drop h9 and leading shots for HEIs and QBTs then upgrade all APTs to ACMs. Add to this a little bombardment from the Planetary Ion Cannon as your yellow mission and enemy ships will start to fall apart.

Thanks. I guess I expected at minimum “Change the VSD to an ISD, two of the Raiders for Demo, and drop a Gozanti for Maarek and Jendon.” 😉

I like the use of the VSD here to lead the kids into battle, but I think I'm too attached to Demolisher. BUT Maybe I'll give this a try too - because different:

VSD2 - Screed,Tua, GT, DipCaps, Spinal, LS, ECM (143)
Raider1 - OE, X-Racks (51)
Raider1 - OE, X-Racks (51)
Raider1 - Kallus, OE, Flechettes, Instigator (58) - Anti-Sqn
Jerk Gozanti - ST, Suppressor (34)
Non-Jerk Gozanti - Comms (25)
Boba Fett (26)
Obj - MW, PIC, SC
388/400

EDIT: Option - drop Goz/Boba for another Raider

I appreciate everyone trying to give H9s some love... however, as mentioned recently, it is simply outclassed in most situations by other upgrades, whether it be XI7s or, in this case, Spinal.

Man, I wish bombers could lay bombs/mines as well in Armada... Imagine the shenanigans

Update

Question: Are the squads here providing enough value? Asking because if they aren't, I can drop them to switch one of the Raiders to Demo. Will add more punch, but could leave me much more vulnerable to a squad-heavy build (but I guess that is what the ST Gozantis are for).

Because this is where I am at right now.

Option 1 (which I could also switch out QBTs and HIEs for Spinals and LS)

Assault: Opening Salvo
Defense: Planetary Ion Cannon
Navigation: Solar Corona

• Minister Tua (2)
• Gunnery Team (7)

• Electronic Countermeasures (7)

Raider I (44)
• Darth Vader (3)
• Assault Concussion Missiles (7)
= 54 Points

Raider I (44)
• Hondo Ohnaka (2)
• Ordnance Experts (4)
• Assault Concussion Missiles (7)
= 57 Points

Raider I (44)
• Ordnance Experts (4)

Gozanti Cruisers (23)

Squadrons:

I seem really tied to the Victory and DV BT because we don't see Vics on the table in my area and I want to use DV BT at least once. Thanks for all the advice.

Updated Lists

You can also use AA Demo as a compromise (not that I necessarily recommend it, but the choice is there.) If you’re using Kallus he probably belongs on the Raider with OE, since it makes it easier to fish for an accuracy or one-shot squadrons like Black or Saber (Jan and Gold can get two-shotted as well.)
