Just want explanations on missles. Can defender choose to take 1 damage instead of attacker’s rolling 4 attack for the shot?
Thanks for any clarification and help using for a First Order Special Forces Swarm.

Correct.
What are you unclear about?
What if two attackers are using homing missles does the defender still get the option of choosing one damage? Per turn or would the attacker then choose? Is the homing attack always up to the defender?
The Jan. new points places them from 3 to 5 which is a huge nerf you think they would have added a missle so now 2 points of damage is 10 points?

They do exactly what they say. You are assuming a whole bunch of stuff they don't.
So in order: yes, the choice is per attack. No, per attack, and the attacker never chooses. Yes, it's always up to the defender.
And yes, the change in points is super disappointing; they were perfectly balanced at 3, if not slightly underpowered.

Thanks I mean I get a nerf but ouch. 4 would have been usuable now no.
I assume too many ran 5 F/O SF Swarm with homing missles.
Swarms just took a nerf. I don’t believe in conspiracy theories but updating the points twice a year? It’s good for selling ships but how long will players enjoy learning to fly a squad then having it nerfed. Oh well. I am sure the new factions will be amazing then nerfed.
There goes buying new ships for awhile. Thanks for answering my own question.
*places New Tie SF Swarm in dusty box.
I dunno. I kinda see the logic to the Homing Missile price change. They were pretty clearly the best single-slot missile pre-adjustment. And even now, isn't a 5-point Homing Missile still better than a 6-point Concussion Missile? I think missile prices are mostly too high in general, but 5-points seems more in line with the power-per-point of other missiles.

They were the best single slot missile, but that is because the other missiles are bad, not because Homing are good.
Dropping concussion down to 4 would probably be fine.
Also, I'd say Concussions are way better at this point. 5 points for 2 damage is pretty low return, and it's REALLY difficult to make Homings pay off more than that.

I dunno. It's probably mostly a small-sample-size thing, and a trick of psychology, but there are few things more depressing than missing entirely with a Concussion Missile attack. And taking auto-damage isn't super fun.
I think we've both expressed our opinions here; agree to disagree?
I believe this increase in points is to preemptively control the z95 swarms with hominng missiles [6bynaire(24) +1named] in upcoming Hyperspace Scum lists (from 27 each=162 points to 29=174)
6 guaranteed hits can be devastating.

Suffers from the low init lock problem pretty majorly.
Yup, but still a bit dangerous if they manage to focus fire
I get it as well. The last thing you want is a bunch of swarms with missles taking over the game.
But **** those 3 point missles were fun.
The meta is keeping it toward 2-3 ship builds which is better in my opinion. And I rather see Vader with Hate and Auto thrusters along side inferno than a bunch of F/o SF blasting everything.
F/O needs a new mid priced gunboat ship bad.....
