Why does the YT-2400 still cost so much?

Maybe FFG just thought the YT-1300s were more overcosted than the YT-2400.

I don't think he was saying the prices should be based on 1E performance; just 1E is the reason he's sick of seeing them. Personally, I can sympathize with that, as this ship was one of the primary reasons I never really got to enjoy first edition all that much. Even if it were completely balanced and fairly priced, I'd still be just as happy to never see it in play again, just because of all the bad memories it brings up.

I'm pretty much the opposite. The YT-2400 was what got me into X-wing Miniatures, and even when I played terribly and lost to stupid stuff like Manaroo or Palp Aces or Fair Ship Rebels, I still had fun.

But hey, screw me, right? Can't wait for July!

Hey, no need to take it personally just because not everyone loves your ship. The ship isn't even dead (from what I can tell, it was the only large-base ship to make it into the Top 8 at the Glendale System Open), and it still got a price decrease; just not as large as some of the other ships. Even if you're correct, and the ship is slightly overcosted now (I leave it to others to decide), it's still perfectly playable. Take it from someone who got into the game (1E) because of the TIE Punisher: your ship doesn't have to be top-tier for you to still enjoy flying it.*

*Of course, when I flew it against fat turrets, it usually got blown up almost immediately, before I even had a chance to have any fun flying it.

Dang it. It totally slipped past me that the Leebo’s crew slot got axed. I was looking forward to trying out Leebo with 3P0 with the reduced point values.

Yeah, TIE Phantom's feel Leebo's pain... but it would't be a fun ride in a Phantom's bucket, and it seems there should be plenty of room for a few loveseats in a YT-2400. Maybe they feel Leebo is not a friendly "guy" haha. C3PO was an obvious, but Luke Gunner is the way to go, IMO.

I think we'll have to wait a couple of rotations before the 1st edition players finally lose their perception of the 2400 being a broken ship, especially after the roark debacle. That combo really pissed me off because of how badly it set back the 2400 from becoming an actual building block in the Rebel arsenal instead of just a gimmick combo list.

I understand that it's a big risk for FFG to bring the 2400 out of the dumpster, because if they accidentally break it again the player base will crucify them. The problem is that if FFG doesn't at least make the ship playable, nobody will ever put it on the table and people will just hold on to their outdated perceptions of the 2400 from 1st edition if they never get to see how bad it is in 2nd edition.

I for instance, have really had to be convinced missiles of absolutely any kind were worth it, because they were so crap in 1.0 if they weren't Harpoons.

And now I'm actually taking Ion Torpedoes, which are shockingly valuable!

Must you be so crude, in addition to providing zero contribution to this discussion?

I don't mean to imply I'm taking it personally; I just don't accept "It was too strong in 1.0, so it doesn't have to be good in 2.0," as an argument.

It was good, but only in the gimmicky Roark combo. And as I said, as it is, there's no point flying it when X-wings are so much better (and when the ship feels so clunky with the rotating bowtie.)

Also, RIP 1.0 Punishers. Glad they're good now.

ROFL! The YT-2400 is dead as a doorknob. If you think a 2pt reduction makes up for losing the double-tap, well I don't know what to tell you. Yes, it wast one of the very few large-based ships to make Top8s at major events, but that was 100% because of the Roarke Double Tap, which let Dash nearly double his offensive output and become close to a decent investment.

He's now two points cheaper (a 2% decrease to cost) but has 50% of his damage output as he did pre-ruling. So, you save 2% on a ship that is worth about 50% of what it was on the table, since it will output damage twice as slowly. Good luck getting that back to a Top8 table, ever...

Pick pilot, equip a missile and Vet Tur Gunner (270 arc coverage, can engage 2 opposite arcs "simultaneously" with 4 die (3 if range 1) primary (5/4 with Trick Shot Dash and obstacle line up) and bring threat against front arc even if the primary isn't set to cover), Ackbar Slash.

When will an opponent ever play poorly enough to have ships in both bowtie arcs?

You only need one ship in each arc. Make them break formation.

I know that. I guess the use of 'multiple' implies two in each, huh.

Either way, it's not going to trigger very much.

The designers giving the 2400 a built-in four dice primary was the worst possible news for Dash fans. It makes the ship almost impossible to price correctly. I expect the final price point will be lower than where it sits now but not by a whole lot.
