5 Double Tap Turret Lists

With the decrease in cost of the Y-Wing, Dorsal Turret, and Veteran Turret Gunner, 5 Double Tap Turret lists are now a possible thing.

A TIE/ag with Dorsal and VTG is now 38 points while a Crymorah Goon/Gray Squadron Bomber with Dorsal and VTG are now 39 points each.

Is this something to be feared? Or just something that may be fun to play with.

Thoughts??

They can still only double tap once forwards at range 1-2 with two two die shots and only a single token for both shots and defence. Not sounding too problematic.

I think the Y-wings are a bit scarier since they won't melt quite as quickly. At range 1 that can put a bit of a hurting on something though. I think its a decent list, but I don't think you have to worry too much about it.

Its still no TLT spam.

3 goons with Drea seems like a list.

Edit: all with shield upgrade, too.

One free reroll per shot per Lok, with a 3 dice and 2 dice shot per Lok per round... and drea's shot as well.. potentially 17 dice in range 2.

I think it could be a good list. A lot of HP. Decent damage. Hard to dodge all arcs

Assuming everything has all the relevant targets, sure. But that's a big assumption.

The thing people seem to be missing is that it's pretty easy to arc dodge low init mobile turrets.

I think its gonna be good. In Hyperspace you can run 5x Grey/VTG/Ion minus 1 VTG. That's a lot of control. Its not just the double tap but the huge arc coverage and potential to stun lock multiple ships.

That's only two double tap turret lists.

These lists are frightening. Remember, they won't have to lock the arc forward. In the mid-game they can rotate the arc to keep dodgy ships in arc. If they ionize something once, it's likely dead next round. The Ion turret price change is the biggest deal. Dorsal and vet gunner changes seem good enough, but I'm expecting the ion turret price to go back up a point or two. The next few months could become the 'Ionization' meta.

Maybe another, Imp flavored but likely not viable.

No. Her ability changes what the dial is set to upon reveal. The Ionization Maneuver does not reveal a dial at all (which is the same reason it shuts down Adv Sen).

I wonder how well such a list would fare against the dreaded triple Upsilons. Ion damage ignores Reinforce, so good luck on the rolls could result in you being able to walk one off the board.

Would still need to get at least 2 hits or crits past the reinforce for a token till it is Ionized. Then you'll have to deal with focus + coordinated Reinforces if you're focus firing on 1 ship. It's doable but risky and not easy.

Would 3 double-tap y's plus Esege be anything? I'd probably want Esege somewhat tricked out, Perceptive Copilot at least, to allow the Y's to benefit the best from his ability. Then maybe Hotshot Gunner to strip opponent's tokens.

I think reinforce does nothing as it reduces damage, not hit/crit symbols.

Rules Ref page 15, top right.

"During the Neutralize Results step, if the attack would hit and there is more than one (hit)/(crit) result remaining, one (evade) result is added to cancel one result."

This ain't 1.0 anymore.

Only problem with the K wing double tap build, is that you don't have a primary front arc, so will have to fire the second shot out of the opposite facing arc to the first shot..

Yeh I know, but having flown a 4x version of it the bow-tie double-tap triggers alot more often than you would expect, especially against swarms.

The trick I've found is mixing your arcs between front-back and left-right so the enemy has very little chance of arc dodging the formation. I'll admit it's not the most efficient build, but its **** fun to fly

Let me add my contribution to this thread...

Horton Salm, Norra Wexley, 2 x Gold Squadron Veterans, all with Expert Handling, Ion Turret, R4 and Veteran Turret Gunner. 200 points on the nose and Hyperspace legal. I don't know how it'll do but it should be fun to try and find out.
