Vader and inquisitors - help required

By MightyTallest, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Currently watching rebels, and wanted a fast attack list built around the inquisition. I was thinking something along these lines:

TIE Advanced v1 - •Grand Inquisitor - 58
•Grand Inquisitor - Master of the Inquisitorious (58)

TIE Advanced x1 - •Darth Vader - 70
•Darth Vader - Black Leader (70)

TIE/ph Phantom - •“Whisper” - 71
•“Whisper” - Soft-Spoken Slayer (52)
Marksmanship (1)
•Seventh Sister (12)
Stealth Device (6)

Total: 199/200

wasnt sure whether to have the stealth device on the phantom, or proton rockets on the grand inquisitor.

also, I’m not sure what goes with Vader himself currently with upgrades?

They freed loads of points up for these last night (though I lost the seventh sister slot for the phantom :( )

TIE Advanced x1 - •Darth Vader - 67
•Darth Vader - Black Leader (65)
Fire-Control System (2)

TIE Advanced v1 - •Grand Inquisitor - 58
•Grand Inquisitor - Master of the Inquisitorious (56)
Fire-Control System (2)

TIE/ph Phantom - •“Whisper” - 75
•“Whisper” - Soft-Spoken Slayer (54)
Outmaneuver (6)
Stealth Device (6)
•Fifth Brother (9)

Total: 200/200

Would I be better swapping an ace for a support ship like a lambda?

I'd be tempted to take Seventh Sister in her fighter for a straight Inquisitorial list. She's cheap and that'd let all three ships stock out with some better upgrades. Afterburners are nice and cheap now, and whilst they're not a replacement for supernatural reflexes, they're still a nice-to-have on an arc dodger.

I'll need to grab another Advanced Prototype to give that a try, but sounds good! I'll see if people will let me proxy my Phantom in the mean time. Thanks!

TIE Advanced v1 - •Grand Inquisitor - 65
•Grand Inquisitor - Master of the Inquisitorious (56)
Fire-Control System (2)
Proton Rockets (7)

TIE Advanced v1 - •Seventh Sister - 55
•Seventh Sister - Sadistic Interrogator (46)
Fire-Control System (2)
Proton Rockets (7)

TIE Advanced x1 - •Darth Vader - 80
•Darth Vader - Black Leader (65)
Fire-Control System (2)
Proton Rockets (7)
Afterburners (6)

My main concern with Fire Control/Proton Rockets as a combination is getting both a lock and focus at the same time.

It's not a big deal for Vader, because he's Darth ******* Vader and he has more actions than you can shake a lightsaber at, but the TIE/v1 might suffer a little - if you can't fire proton rockets until turn 2 of the engagement, you risk one or other TIE/v1 going down with rockets still unfired, whilst if you lead with boost/link/focus for the rockets, you risk someone with the initiative advantage smartly sidestepping your bullseye arc and whoops and wahey, you're just a TIE fighter with delusions of grandeur...

By comparison, if you're locking and hanging on to your lock, other missiles (cluster, concussion or ion) offer Seventh Sister the 'missing' 3rd attack die that Vader and The Grand Inquisitor can get with their ship and pilot abilities respectively.

Downgrading proton rockets to something like concussion missiles lets Seventh sister engage at range 3 effectively, and maybe opens up the points for Hate - since she need 2 force to trigger her ability, you can't really afford to spend force defensively - this way, you can; if taking 2 damage, spend a force charge to stop one and you immediately get it back as you lose a shield, meaning her pseudo-crack-shot is still enabled for return fire. And since she shoots last, there's a good chance her target will have been damaged by the two higher initiative aces, making the concussion missile's ability likely to trigger.

That's really good advice, thanks! I'll have a look into target lock based missiles!

Those three ships don't seem to have a huge amount of options currently (particularly as I don't have the FO conversion kit for the force powers), so any help is greatly appreciated!
