Only one Chainbound Tourney a week ?

By Groem57, in KeyForge

Apparently the Chainbound Tourneys are restricted to once a week ? We have our Thrusday night which we use for Chainbound Tourneys (yesterday first time with 14 players) but some players are unable to attend during the week so they come together on Saterday-afternoon but are they barred from Chainbound Play then ??

With us, retailers trying to build a community to keep the game going it would be recommended to be able to make Tournaments every day if we could, no ?

It's once per week per store. There are several issues with running events every day. The Magic community can probably elaborate. My one thought is that dishonest stores/players could very easily have one person run "fake events" every day of the week, log results and generate large amounts of free aember, equivalent to spending $30 per day per person on decks.

Realistically, not everyone who wants to participate will be available and you'll never find a night that works for everyone. Just call it Thursday nights and if people want to come, they will when they can. If they can't make it, they can still play casual games OR run off day events that aren't Chainbound.

You can change the day between weeks.

Week 1: Chainbound Thursdays, and casual tournaments Saturday

Week 2: Casual Thursday, chainbound saturdays.

And so on.

Yeah, that's a great option. Each day gets an event every other week.

That is also a great chance to run formats unsupported by chained play, like reversal, deck elimination, adaptive, etc.

By varying formats like this, you could have a two month cycle where no two weeks are alike! That could be a great way to determine the formats that are received well locally.

You can also always find another store that has events on another day. Heck you can even go to both and play in two (or more) chainbound a week!

In an 8 man tournament the players gain +5 chains overall each event. So, if you don't play with outsiders and keep playing the same decks eventually every player in the group will get to power 3 to 4.

With a bit collusion you can get a over a 10 week period, 4 players out of 8 on power 4.
