Using an ARC 170 as a damage sponge

By faxx2, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I was playing around with the idea of using an ARC for support and passing of critical hits. Check it out

No ARC will sponge damage like Norra Wexley. Her pilot ability adds so many evades.

Very interesting, and the ARC looks good, although have 2 questions.

why Jyn on Garven, and why Squad leader on Jake?

i like jyn as she since evasive is potentially more useful than focus in defense (flexibility), especially combined with gavin’s Ability.

Squadron leader so jake can pass off a focus (or evasive with jyn) when using the Awing boost thing and grant the allies an extra action with the command action.

make sense? I think the sly thing could be dropped

You can't do that with Jake, he can only pass out a focus token when he does a boost or roll action, and Jake can only do a red boost action after doing any action (Vectored Thrusters). Because Squad Leader is a Red action for Jake he can't do anything after it, and can't do it after doing any of his other actions.

ah, the mobile version of the squad builder has it as a white action. . .

So does the browser version. It's a known issue.

So your most expensive, and easiest (1 agility, no boost) to kill ship is your sponge? Sounds like a **** of a good target.

as you can probably see form my updated list, the Arc is a little cheaper, and i could probably drop the tail gunner (even just run it with just selfless).

Im just playing with the concept idea, using a relatively tough ship taking damage away from more agile ships by using selfless. . .

Selfless isn't really going to soak much damage, especially not on a slow lumbering beast paired with nimble speedsters
