CRUISE CONTROL FOR COOL ENGAGED!!!1!

Finally were are getting some focus on the actual space battles in the new canon. Hopefully these new novels will be in the same quality as the old X-Wing serier!

You still have to steer.

Meh... On the one hand, it's nice to see a story from an Imperial point of view. On the other, I'm just not all that interested in post-RoTJ new canon.

Is Alphabet squadron commanded by Count Numbers? That's from Sesame Street, isn't it?

Oh, Disney ...

The TIE Fighter cover looks good!

The other.... thing looks boring and that title sounds like a stupid joke that somebody took seriously.

It’s a bad name for an exciting premise. We haven’t had a proper fighter-centric book since Lost Stars IMO.

I’ll tape over the “bet.”

Not too excited about Alphabetti Spaghetti but the Tie comic looks dope. Very much looking forward to it. I really think we need some more really bad as$ and (rightfully so) arrogant imperial fighter aces in cannon. Also, always excited for stories from imperial POV we have way to little of that. (Disney DON'T you dare pull another Battlefront 2 where the cool and loyal imperial main character in the end desert to the rebel scum!)

I hope that if Alphabet Squadron and the Tie comic establish some cool personalities that we get them as aces in Armada in a future expansion!

Edit: the forum auto censor seems to be going a little overboard

NEEEEEEEWWW BOOOOOOOOOOOKSSSS

The Alphabet squadron one's artwork and title honestly put me off. I am still going to read it, as I am interested in the story regardless. Really looking forward to the Tie Fighter book. Some other books that should be coming soon that I am looking forward to (being a big prequel fan - in particular Ep.1) are 'Queen's Shadow' (March) and 'Master and Apprentice' (April). Especially looking forward to the latter.

I have always said Disney needs to go back into the prequel eras again, specifically around the Episode 1 timeline and just before. The stories of Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan together always had my heart. Hopefully these books are a sign of things to come from Disney.

Still think to this day that Qui-Gon is the cooles Jedi character in all of Star Wars. People all wanted a Obi-Wan solo movie and while I would love that too if I had to choose I would love to have a Qui-Gon Jinn movie even more. Of course a Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan movie would be the dream but I am afraid you can't make Awan McGregor look quite that young anymore.

This mentality is I think what Disney banks on when they churn out Star Wars content.

@Cavkov Awesome stuff!

I'm not usually interested in comics at all but, THIS does look rather interesting!

Say, do you think our Assault Gunboat will make her appearance here???

I pray she does! TIE FIGHTER. OMG getting quite hyped. Haha.

Yeah, the premise is kinda "90s-era Doom-clone-shooter" vibe, with less budget.

Ohnoes, the Empire has fallen and a group of TIE pilots are going rogue destroying everything! Only a scrappy band of poorly-organized-nobodies-instead-of-ya-know-the-actual-military-we-created-specifically-for-this-purpose can POSSIBLY stop them!

But that's basically everything "canon" post-RotJ we've seen, so...yeah, no, I'm out. Congrats, Disney, you missed literally the entire point of the Empire and why it was *actually* dangerous.

Comic? Book? I want a post RotJ MOVIE!! Give is a Band of Brothers style combat movie.....or TV series following units from Endor to Jakku!

But yeah, I’ll read these!!!

I thought we weren't supposed to judge a book by its cover.

I'm with the other poster who isn't enthused about post-ROTJ in the new canon. One of the things I think that held the Poe comic back was that every time they needed to put some kind of context on the mission it would go "ker-klunk" because of the sloppy setup provided by Force Awakens. I think the story in the Battlefront II (2017) game reeked of that. It was pleasant enough but it really felt like the main goal was to prop up the threadbare premises of Force Awakens.

The novel has a couple of hooks, fighter squadron, suggestion of Hera as the group leader but that androgynous character on the cover just make just heave an enormous sigh. It just comes across as "We're "woke." Please don't hurt us."

Okie Dokie looks like we've reached the point in the thread for the obligatory Star Wars fans are the worst post:

No. No. We weren't. I could have done without all of that.

Any time a Star Wars fan starts to get passive with their statements about other fans.... it's time for the obligatory

"Star Wars fans suck" post. Sorry mate, I don't make the rules.

Just now, LordCola said:

Honestly, I am more tired of posts like this than people expressing their complaints. And also posts like this are just SOOOOOOOO hypocritical. You complain about the toxicity of the fandom with just more toxicity. That's just so dumb.

I mean, I never said I wasn't the worst. I am a Star Wars fan after all.

I just get sick of the passive swipes at people.

Why be passive? say what you mean.

Say:

"I think Disney banks on people buying whatever comes out because they're dumb".

.

In the screenshot of the fighters with Halle Berry in front, what is the squadron below the B-wing on the left?

Edit: So I see that it is a U-wing squadron. So what speed and hull could it possibly have in Armada? I see that one of the ships can be an Ace called Bravo One, piloted by K-2SO.

Alphabet squadron? Surely this is a spoof...

I would love to see the Assault Gunboat being brought back into canon.

What I find very interesting is that there will be a Tie-in (lol) bethween the books and the comics.

I am so glad that Disney is showing space combat some love!

And tbh I dont mind the name of the Alphabet Squadron , will probably be called just Alpha squad.

It was mentioned in the Rebel Files.

... Albeit, mentioned as a Rebel ship :D
