This past weekend brought fans of Runewars, Runebound, and Descent: Journeys in the Dark to the Fantasy Flight Games Event Center to celebrate these great games in epic fashion. With tournaments, seminars, sneak peeks, and open gaming, the Realms of Terrinoth event was a smashing success, bringing together gaming enthusiasts from seven different states (some all the way from Connecticut) for three full days of adventure.

All attendees had a chance to sit in on various seminars hosted by FFG designers discussing their work on these games. In addition, they were the first to get a sneak peek at the two newest products set in Terrinoth; designer John Goodenough introduced both Dungeonquest, a board game of perilous dungeon exploration, and the next exciting expansion for Runebound, Mists of Zanaga! Keep watching our website for official announcements of both of these great new titles.

The Descent tournament was immensely popular, pitting Realms of Terrinoth attendees against ruthless Overlords in a series of elimination matches. The Descent tournament culminated in an exciting match that gave the four highest ranking heroes a chance to test their mettle against Descent designer Kevin Wilson.

picture-2.pngThe Delve of Doom, a veritable gauntlet of nasty tricks created as a special scenario for Descent: Journeys in the Dark, claimed the lives of several brave heroes over the weekend. Designed by Rob Kouba, the Delve of Doom was a contest to see who could come closest to the end, with each group of players marking the location of their demise on a large map (see the image below). Ultimately, four courageous adventurers made it roughly halfway through! Couldn’t make it to Realms of Terrinoth? In the coming weeks, we’ll post the Delve of Doom to our website so that you and your friends can test your mettle.

Fans of Descent: Journeys in the Dark also got a chance to become designers themselves with the Extreme Dungeon Makeover competition. Given limited parameters and a bag of mystery components, contestants had 90 minutes to design the most creative and unique dungeon. The winning dungeon will be published on our site, so keep watching for a chance to play the scenario chosen by judge Rob Kouba.

The Runewars tournament gave players a chance to face off against other dragon rune seekers, and you can check out the tournament standings below. The top three moved on to face designer Corey Konieczka, playing as Waiqar the Undying, in a final match. The winner walked out with a trophy in the form of his very own dragon rune!
