VSD x 3

By codytx2, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

I ran this last night and had some good success. After talking w/ my opponent afterwords there are some tweaks I want to make but here is the starting point.

Victory II

  • Admiral Motti
  • Gunnery Team
  • XI7 Turbolasers
  • SW-7 Ion Batteries

Victory II

  • Gunnery Team
  • Disposable Capacitors
  • SW-7 Ion Batteries
  • 7th Fleet Star Destroyer

Victory II

  • Gunnery Team
  • Disposable Capacitors
  • SW-7 Ion Batteries
  • 7th Fleet Star Destroyer

Gozanti Cruizers

  • Comms Net
  • Suppressor

Boba Fett

Assault: Blockade

Defense: Hyperspace Assault

Navigation: Superior Positions

Already I want to ditch Fett for another Gozanti and add 7th fleet to the flagship (only had 2 copies). 2nd option is using this to add in a Cymoon ISD in place of a VSD II w/ Thrawn. Is there a better Navigation to use? My opponent picked Hyperspace Assault but openly said will not make that mistake again nor likely to go Blockade.

I would go with most wanted for your different assault objective.

You can go with jerjerrod as admiral to have better movement.

I would get rid of sw7s. Go with leading shots. Better for manipulation.

Not a big fan of 7th fleet. Try and add another xi7 or 2.

Don't take Superior Positions!

A swarm or max squad screen will milk those clumsy VSDs for points.

Solar Corona is probably the best but somewhat boring choice.

I'd put DCaps on the third VSD as well and what they all probably want is Leading Shots for dice control instead of the SW7s. Your blue dice contribute no matter the side. It's the red ones you should worry about.

The biggest issue with 3 VSDs and 2 Gozantis will be squads. I suggest going squadless and putting Slicer Tools in the second Gozanti to jump their carrier, if they have one.

I had Solar Corona in first but switched for the sole reason I could deploy after my opponent to keep my fleet together and all their ships to one side of me. The biggest weakness appears getting flanked or splitting the fleet. Solar Corona will go back b/c there are not any great selections from Navigation and they can rack up a lot of points on me.

SW-7s seemed like they would do more but they will also get replaced. I believe I used the blue accuracy more than converting to hits.

Will do w/ the Gozanti/Slicer Tools. It happened to be against a Sato build so that would of crippled it. My first time trying squadless (basically w/ only Fett) and I did not have a good answer to remove or control my opponent's squads.

Thanks.

Most Wanted is an interesting pick and gives me the chance of someone picking it over my Navigation selection.

I'll try Jerjerrod out. Usually go w/ Motti for the extra hull when nothing else pops out. It kept my 3rd VSD alive after dropping it behind enemy lines. It did some work from back there and lived way longer than should have thanks to some bad luck dice rolling & the extra hull.

They all had XI7 but when I built it online then switched to 7th fleet when I realized I only had 1 copy of it  . Going to proxy a handful of upgrades.

Thanks.

I've been toying with the idea of building a triple vic fleet myself.

Here's one that I have used that does fairly well

Name: Triple victory
Faction: Imperial
Commander: Moff Jerjerrod

Assault: Opening Salvo
Defense: Planetary Ion Cannon
Navigation: Solar Corona

Victory II (85)
• Disposable Capacitors (3)
• Quad Battery Turrets (5)
• Heavy Ion Emplacements (9)
= 102 Points

Victory II (85)
• Moff Jerjerrod (23)
• Disposable Capacitors (3)
• Quad Battery Turrets (5)
• Heavy Ion Emplacements (9)
= 125 Points

Victory II (85)
• Captain Needa (2)
• Disposable Capacitors (3)
• Turbolaser Reroute Circuits (7)
• Leading Shots (4)
• Warlord (8)
= 109 Points

Squadrons:
• Howlrunner (16)
• Mauler Mithel (15)
• Valen Rudor (13)
• Captain Jonus (16)
= 60 Points

Total Points: 396

What about

400/400 Most Wanted , Hyperspace Assault , Solar Corona
VSD-II, GT, D-Caps, LS, QBTs, Motti 128
VSD-II, GT, D-Caps, LS, QBTs 104
VSD-II, GT, D-Caps, LS, QBTs 104
Gozanti, Comms Net 25
Ciena, Valen, Black Squadron 39

I like it. I personally have terrible luck with GT's so I don't normally take them. But this looks really good

@Mad Cat 's list is a good one. Having played it (minus Ciena and Valen) I recommend dropping the Gozanti for Pryce and a strong bid, and Blockade Run again. It's better in my experience to have objectives that help you actually close on your targets than be faced with the prospect of getting enough firepower on a JJ ISD or Admo set to flank (just about every list has triple VSD out deployed.)

Quad Battery Turrets are a good pick since I have ran speed 1 entire games before. Would you get more miles out of Overload Pulse vs Heavy Ion Emplacements?

+1 on this. I need 10-15 points for bid. The right objective will also help more than a single squad.

Flew this without Black Squadron. Lost a VSD, almost a second one and both squads but annihilated a mc80C +2 mc30 +transports + some y-wings list

No because the point of the other 2 vics is to drain the shields so that warlord can finish it off after.

I played a variation of this list many times. I replaced Motti with Jerry and one VSD woth a Dictor for healing and messing eney rolls. Migthy fun, but not very competitive.
