Hi couldn't think of good title but if I have intiative and fire first destroying a lower intiative ship does that ship get to fire before being removed?
Ship firing order

If it is of a lower initiative, no.
Correct If a PS 4 tie advance shoots a PS3 x-wing killing it, the X-wings removed before it gets to return fire.
However if that X-wings also PS4, it gets to return fire, THen gets removed.

To be even more precise, it is removed only after ALL of the ships engaging at this initiative have engaged. This is really important property when pilots and upgrades with impact on other ships are in question.
Example: a Rebel squad with Biggs against a swarm of any sort. First ship of the swarm shoots and destroys Biggs. Now, for each consecutive shot from the swarm, Biggs, even though already destroyed, can still draw damage from shots pointed at his colleagues.
Another example: Academy Pilot swarm with Howlrunner. Even if the enemy shooting first ha s shot her down with a PS1 shot, and although she won't shoot back as she engaged already at higher initiative, all academy pilots will still benefit from her ability.
Edited by ryfterekYup. When you get to Engagement Bracket X, all ships with Initiative X attack, including bonus attacks granted in the Aftermath step from ships like Dengar or Quickdraw. Then, right before Engagement Bracket X ends, you remove all destroyed ships. At that point, you enter Engagement Bracket X-1, and do the whole thing over again. #algebra
This is important to observe too with say Quickdraw. Even tho he’s ps 6 if he kills a ship in the ps 1 bracket due to firing with his pilot ability, the ship is not removed until it also attacks.
