Great points everyone! How silly of me to not think about canon, alien biological differences, and gender roles in a FANTASY miniatures table top game. It's almost like I forgot for a moment that none of those things matter to me, I'd just like more variety in the models considering they're based on a property with a whole galaxy of different species. I'll just take my token Duros and female trooper and go home. Obviously something like this:

is not in the spirit of the Star Wars Universe at all. My bad \_(ツ)_/

You might want to try actually reading what people wrote instead of doing whatever the **** it is you did there that made you post...whatever this is supposed to mean.

They're your minis, if you want your Stormtroopers to be pink with helmets shaped like cat heads, go ahead, I'm not going to stop you.

Thanks. Now I want Cattroopers.

If I'm being truly honest with myself: No, I would not want that as the default Rebel trooper sculpt selection. That's not what I've viewed on screen for Rebels during the GCW.

Now, I'm not saying that I want ALL human-like soldiers. I've done many head swaps from old WOTC SWM to bring some more diversity to my force but I don't want a Rodian in every single unit much like I do not automatically toss the Duros into every squad if I'm not taking the extra trooper. But a few Twi'leks, a Bith, a Gran, etc to replace one figure per unit? That's where I think the sweet spot is at.

Still, even with the existing sculpts, you get the exact same "diversity" in your squad by taking the same colors as represented on those "alien" heads and paint up the existing sculpts: green = Mirialan, red = Zeltron, blue = Pantoran. That's also what I did.

If they want to do alien species, give us something that's not human-like: Besalisks, Lasats, Ithorians, Whipids. Those would usually require a distinct sculpt to really pull off (though I have converted an Ithorian as a Z-6 trooper fairly successfully).

To address the non-human portion of this comment, in canon humans were the most populous species in the galaxy at the time of the GCW. As well, if I recall correctly, typically the Empire was a LOT stricter on non-human worlds, with Star Destroyers hovering overhead and, in the case of the Wookies, control chips implanted in their brain.

Plus, TONS of non-humans are classified as "near humans" with the only visible difference being skin and hair color, or in one case lack of eyes. Mirialan, Chiss, Zeltrons, Miraluka, Pantoran, Kiffar, Petrusians, Zabrak (when not bare headed), and Umbarans are all canon species I could find with minimal differences to humans, and only really in the case of the Miraluka and Zabrak are there (potentially) any modelling differences. In every other case, the only visible difference is skin color, or ritual tattoos. So it's up to the painter to differentiate.

Somehow I totally spaced out about that. Now some of my rebs are gonna become Chiss at the very least.

Here's those Z-6 conversions I did, and the chain-reaction of arm swaps they caused.

And Anna Kendrick, rebel specialist

I converted one of my ion troopers, but didn't like her sleeves on the Z6 guy, so I held on to him and made him the spotter for one of my cannons.

I also thought I would be okay, because if I'm ever in a situation where I'm building a list the fields 6 Ion Troopers I need to rethink my life choices.

This is unfortunately the case. From now on, the "worse" heavy weapon figure from triplicate (and more) squads is just going into the old spare parts box. It would take a total overhaul of the recharge mechanic to make them fun.

My almost aggressive stance towards the existence of a declared canon might be what I'm best known for. But considering context we can make some fairly accurate predictions about what products are likely vs. unlikely wishlists.

I really really want a Legion scale Revwien force user but... not gonna happen. Maybe I can make one from a spare base and floral supplies...

Well umm. Yeah. 3D printed heads.
