Generic vs Generic

By buckero0, in Star Wars: Legion

At what point do the generic officers benefit from being their own individual unit vs being an upgrade inside a unit? Logic/numbers tells me at 3+ but i think it may have more to do with the army build and if any other commanders are present etc.

For example, if i had Luke in my list, is it better to go with another generic commander, Leia in all her greatness for 40 more points, or 3 or 4 19pt upgrades in my corps units? Having 3+ unit upgrades gives better defwnse vs suppression all the time as i have inspire 1 three times and the ability to do the dodge pass albeit by wasting too many actions. I think thus concept becomes more prevalent when you start taking multiple landspeeders as well due to their cost. What do you guys think?

I think you got it. It's also going to depend on your play style.

I feel like if you just want the bubble and a single command slot filled, the generic can be more useful at a cheaper price point.

As a cheap as chips single commander to fit more units and upgrades the officer works.

But as a second commander to a named hero I think those points are better spent on squad leader upgrades.

I was wondering if a full on squad rush list was worth trying with rebels. Their defense is such that they tend to wilt easily. However, 5 fleet troopers 3 units of 4 wookiees and Luke could be scary.

Or

Luke Stims, Reflexes

4 units of scattergun Fleets, 1 w/ unit commander

2 units if Stims Wookiees

2 flamer At.Rt

I think it depends on the role of the named hero. If you're running Luke as a flanker, or otherwise unlikely to spend time with large portions of your infantry units, then a second command/panic bubble can be very useful.
