I'm on the fence about cashing out since I haven't heard much, but are people still playing?
People still playing?

Absolutely
Really?! Give it 6 months. Then make a decision.
Yeah! We play Armada and Legion!

Going out on a limb here, but I suspect the Armada forum will say yes.
eh, I've been on the edge too. The tournaments still have decent turnouts (regionals and above seems to avg 20+). I'd say it's largely dependent on your local area and your dedication to the game. I'd ask questions like
Is there a group of people you can play with in the area
Are there tournaments, within a range you find reasonable, you can attend.
How much do you enjoy the game.
It's going to be a personal decision no matter what. The future for the game doesn't look great because of the lack of information, but that doesn't mean things won't change. There are still releases in the pipe and FFG hasn't explicitly said the game is dead so there's always a chance it continues. Make the decision that's best for you.
Not only still playing, but starting our league of more than eight players in a little more than a week. Armada is not dead! Long live Armada!

I think you're looking to hear about if Star Wars armada is struggling or not.
In simple terms, Armada is not struggling, but activity all depends on where you live. Some areas are died off, other areas are maintaining, and others have exploded. It is best to check around and make sure you do have some group located near to you that you can play with.
For myself personally, my closest group is 3 hours away but that doesn't deter me from making the trip over and getting games in every other month.
I can't speak for the entire community, we don't have as many expansions as other games (Xwing, Legion) or as news that we would prefer, however FFG has been good at getting us at least one wave a year. Each expansion only adds to the depth of the game and the state of balance the best the game has ever seen (although yes, it does have issues/concerns, but overall they don't collectively drag the game down).
The initial price point to get into the game is high if you are looking to play competitively in Organized Play, which is very active and thriving. However if you are someone that wants to slowly climb in, there are enough expansions and squadron packs for you to take your time selecting and choosing based on what you want to play and fly. No ship is so bad that it's not worth playing, but some are better depending on upgrades and strategy employed.
If you enjoy grand strategy where the plan you make when your deploying ships is the plan that unfolds on the table (dice rolls not withstanding) this is the game for you. The time commitment for games is at least 2 hours compared to more fly by the seat of your pants found in Xwing and shorter games.
Any other questions, feel free to ask.
Just because fantasy flight games hasn't released any news on their website for 6 months thankfully doesn't mean that we the players have dropped it.
yes we are still playing, in fact I just ordered a new set of armada expansions.

I want to point out that Calkins here created that group of players in nothing in less than a year. And he's doing in the middle of nowhere Arizona. Seriously, look up Fort Huachuca, AZ. Armada is a great game, if given the chance to succeed.
Edited by TruthinessIn my region (Montréal and Québec, Canada), there is still a community that playing in store tournement. We are doing one tomorow at the Zakeda, on the South-shore of Montréal, and we are supposed to be around 7 or 8 persons. There is some tournements on the North-shore of Montréal too, at the BD Cosmos store, that bring approximatively that same number of players. In the Québec region, there is a strong community that play even more game at the Imaginaire store.
Yes, I would like to say that Armada is play by more people in more store but we have to don't forget that this game is not a casual game as X-Wing is. The audience is a little more "niche" because of the game length, the price tag, the complexity of the game and other reasons of this kind.
This game is the best game that I have ever play and still alive even if we don't have the same level of publicity like other games (looking at you Legion and X-Wing). If FFG took a marketing decision to put emphasis on those two products don't means that other games like Armada are about to die.
Thanks, @Truthiness . Absolute middle of nowhere. But seriously, after a few demos, the game took off here because it has all the characteristics to make an amazing game that you want to be a part of. Star Wars. Truly iconic miniatures (did I mention they were Star Wars?) that look amazing on the table. Great game mechanics (like the maneuver tool) that are different from any other game out there right now (that I know of). Combine that with a welcoming and dedicated community. Who wouldn't want to be a part of this game? And at the prices right now that are being posted on some of the other threads, it is cheaper than ever to get into.
im starting CCC with some others in the ner future so idk what you want
It’s beem about a year since I’ve gotten a game in. I live in a small town and the few players moved onto other games. I still have all my ships if anyone is ever in Butler, PA.
I play at least one game a week with my group sometimes 2.
@Gottmituns205 You still in Cbus?
Our group has grown a ton in the past year. You'd have no trouble finding a match.
Over the last year since Regionals 2018 things have exploded here. Last year we had 1 regional in the New England area with 11 people. This year New England got 2 regionals that drew 18 and 23 folks each. We are organizing a CCC with 10 players at the moment and games can be had weekly if you want.
For me I asked stores for over a year if they would host tournaments but outside of Store Championships there was almost nothing. I finally found a store that would let me TO and something similar happend in Connecticut as well and we now have 2 solid bases of players in the region. Granted we have to be flexible and move around to meet up for games but the enthusiasm is there and we have been able to add new players recently. One player at Regionals was playing in his second game ever and held his own fairly well.
Cant we just have a single thread somewhere in off topic for these sort of discussions?
In my little college town, we have 7 regulars at our weekly casual night with life schedules meaning we almost always have two games going but sometimes three. We've also had some previous regulars talk about getting back out to start playing again. We continue to add a new player every three or four months. I find that amazing considering there hasn't been a new release for a year.
I really wish I had other people to play with than my dad and longtime buddy, but that's almost always the case with gaming in my area. After 20 years of gaming I would think I'd be used to it, but...meh.
Managed to fit in three games against three different opponents across two different stores last week, normally go for a couple games a week though. So yeah, Armada is still played plenty around here at least. Figure out how your local scene looks, or if there's anyone else interested in getting started, and if so I'd say jump right in.
In the past year I've seen the game grow significantly. New and returning players both.
I think one thing - is that since the game is a BIT older - we've been able to find more and more sales on the product. The high cost of entry has always been the #1 barrier that kept people from jumping into Armada, and with all the holiday sales, clearances, and deals that have been shared (BTW folks, keep on sharing them! Great work so far!) more and more people have finally been willing to take the plunge!

Off topic...but are you a Sabaton fan?
And yah lots of people are playing. I have been focused on vassal cause its winter and less driving.
And another great reason to start is that the next generation of Admirals is about to start playing the game as well.
Got her practicing on this until she can successfully pilot (and scatter with) a GR-75 without ramming bigger ships.

It seems like there is a wave of new players to the north of you up in Tucson. They are eager to get the game going strong there, and maybe could use some support/advice. I've tried to help a bit in the past, but I am a lot farther away. If you have any help for them, I'm sure they would appreciate it.
