Q: Vader and Advanced Sensors

By Opos, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Hello. As in the topic, I want to ask how those two work with each other. Can Vader use His ability to surpass the limit of 1 action per activation "granted" by AS? For example, can He use AS to target lock opponent, then burn the force token to make Focus, and even barrel roll for linked action before executing the manouver? Or is He allowed to do one action only?

Thanks ๐Ÿ˜Š

No. The hard lock on actions per activation from Advanced Sensors overrules Vader's ability.

advanced sensors card text.

"After you reveal your dial, you may perform 1 action.

If you do, you cannot perform another action during your activation."

rules reference, page 2, golden rules.

"If a card ability uses the word โ€œcannot,โ€ that effect is absolute and cannot be overridden by other effects."

@Hiemfire and @meffo are correct.

As an aside, Vader can chain actions off supernatural reflexes (which doesn't have that restriction) and in theory can do a shedload of actions there by burning force charge, then use advanced sensors for one more.

After you perform an advanced sensors action, though, that's you done for the round - no 'normal' action and for that matter no afterburners either if you've equipped them.

Once you Advanced Sensors, you're done for your activation , but not necessarily the whole round. If you are granted an action outside of your activation (ie. by another friendly Coordinating), you're free to perform that action.

And, if you're Vader, you can spend Force charges to link more actions off of that action.
