Force Interdictor

By idjmv, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

Fooling around with nothing to do, I decided to do some fleet building. I thought this could be good:

Name: Untitled Fleet
Faction: Imperial
Commander: Darth Vader

Assault: Advanced Gunnery
Defense: Planetary Ion Cannon
Navigation: Solar Corona

Interdictor Combat Refit (93)
• Wulff Yularen (7)
• Projection Experts (6)
• Disposable Capacitors (3)
• Targeting Scrambler (5)
• Interdictor (3)
= 117 Points

Imperial II (120)
• Darth Vader (36)
• Strategic Adviser (4)
• Hardend Bulkheads (5)
• Electronic Countermeasures (7)
• H9 Turbolasers (8)
• Avenger (5)
= 185 Points

Raider II (48)
• Quad Laser Turrets (5)
• Overload Pulse (8)
• Impetuous (4)
= 65 Points

Squadrons:
• 4 x TIE Fighter Squadron (32)
= 32 Points

Total Points: 399

Might also do good to switch Vader from the ISD to the Interdictor, as then the opponent has to choose between killing the heavy hitter, or killing the tanky Interdictor to get rid of all the re-rolls.

The goal with this list would to keep the ships relatively close together, and banking an engineering token Round 1, so it can use its 9 engineering points (with a dial and token) to keep itself and the ISD alive.

Thoughts?

The ISD warrants Gunnery Team. It’s only ever worth considering leaving it off for AG if your other two objectives are amazing (think Fire Lanes and Superior Positions-exploiting levels of amazing.) As things stand, you’ll play a fair bit of Solar Corona or Planetary Ion Cannon with no Gunnery Team. You should absolutely fill the other Interdictor slot; I recommend Grav Shift Reroute, which allows you to consider Station Assault, Contested Outpost and Salvage Run, or completely screw with their objectives. QLTs and Impetuous are weird choices on the Raider; it doesn’t want to get too close to the action, it would probably take a front arc shot on a ship rather than squads (so if they hit it, they hit there) and they’ve probably got better targets. The lack of Disposable Capacitors makes an already pretty finicky combo (Pulsetap) less reliable, and the very low bid doesn’t help there either. If you do pull it off, H9s aren’t terribly useful either. HIEs and DCaps are generally more reliable. Governor Pryce is generally better than Strategic Adviser in low-activation fleets, I feel; SAd doesn’t often win the activation war (though it’s not too bad here) whereas Pryce will always do something, even against an MSU. Lastly, Grint is a good substitute for Yularen on the Interdictor; he’s cheaper and doesn’t even need you to bank the token.

Good luck, hope this helps!

@The Jabbawookie - Its an Interdictor Combat Retrofit. It only has the one Slot ;)

Thanks.

@idjmv : the Combat Refit is bad. Ever since Disposable Capacitors came out there's been no convincing reason to run it.

Basically, unless you're doing something funky that requires Red Dice - this man has the measure of it
