Players - maidstone?

By SoontirFel, in X-Wing

Hi all :)

Any of you guys live over maidstone way? A couple of us play at a local pub and, the other two meet up on Saturday's which is great for me 2 out 5 weeks (shift worker).

Anyone local fancy meeting up other times? It's a nice pub, relatively quiet. The pub keeps two boards for use and they both fit comfortably in the back room. If so, ill get a Facebook group up for organising matches and meets

It's not suitable for large scale tournaments or the like - but, if anyone fancies meeting up it certainly holds 4 people/two boards comfortably with space to move around the outside of the boards and, although my two friends meet regularly on a Saturday it would be nice to get other options :)

Hi. I grew up in Maidstone!

My schedule leans way too heavily on the hectic side, but I play most Thursday evenings in a Gravesend pub with a (possibly growing) group of half a dozen peeps. If you attend any of the store tourneys in Kent, we'll likely run into you at some point.

Meanwhile, if you ever fancy making a trek up to us on a Thursday eve, you'd be most welcome. Just drop me a line and I'll fill you in.

Cheers dude, I certainly will do :)

Hey and hey - there is an X-wing night at Rochester Games every Thursday where we have 2-6 X-wing players fairly regularly if you guys wanted somewhere roughly in the middle!

Will keep that in mind, cheers

Haha, no! I insist you all come to us, our beer is too good to miss! We can take over the whole room, move over RPGers : D

Look up Gravesend X-Wing on FB if you're interested, and give us a shout.

One love, Kent X-Wingers ;)

Cool. Event wise, the Mug and Meeple gamer cafe across the road hosts regular tourneys. There's a Hyperspace one on the 9th of Feb. (Rushes to book ticket...)

They'll be linked to in our group. Otherwise we're just casual, week in, week out. Although sometimes we may decide on a theme, it's mostly just bring stuff and play :)

If you're ever in the neighbourhood, I can recommend both the Mug and Meeple and the pub. Nice food, friendly players. Not a lot of spce for the larger competitors to move around the store when changing tables, but well worth a visit. I've only been once, but hope to attend again when I'm next in London. (It's only an hour or so from my brother's house...nearly as quick to get to as Warboar in Bromley and that's much closer!)

As much I'd like to come and sample the beer, driving up to you guys would prevent me enjoying it!

We play casual, and normally extended incase that matters, we've also been known to run HotAC (we flew as Misfit Squadron on the HotAC Facebook group) and Mario Kart and have had tournaments on the weekenders when we had a bigger player base (we lost ALOT in the later waves of 1.0)

I know a couple of the Mug and Meeple crowd and have heard good things, that pretty much sounds like how we run at Rochester

I'm also in the Maidstone/Rochester area.

I'd probably be unable to commit to attending on a particular night weekly (a combination of working shifts and having a toddler son puts paid to that!) but I'd love to be able to pop into one of the clubs for a game or two if I'd be welcome as a (probably) fairly infrequent visitor.

I tend to lean more towards casual play than cut-throat competitive, and I currently only really get games if I can get a sneaky game in at work with one of my colleagues when there's nothing going on, which is practically never these days!

we have no problem with infrequent players, that pretty much makes up half our numbers at this point :)

and we are nearly always casual games on a Thursday, sometimes 2/3 a side team games if we need to make an odd number of players balance

Yes, that would be great! 🙂

We play on a Thursday, for what it's worth. You'll always find plenty of players happy to have a game!
