april: shore trooper corp, echo base trooper corp

may: dewback/ tautan scouts

We already know they are doing Clone Wars in 2019 because they told us they were. I'm pretty doubtful they would do sequel trilogy factions (so 4 new factions) in 2019 as well.

i remember them saying that it was coming not it was a 100% 2019. they can easily do what they did in xwing and do the resistance/first order first then go to clone wars.

Yoda and Old Ben

My guess is a Cassian operative sometime soon. Don't know who they would pick as his opposite however. Maybe Rukh?

isn't he one of the pathfinder guys the one pointing in the picture? if not then tarken would be my guess as the opposite to him and that could be a april announcement but not release date.

Pretty sure they said at Gencon that Clone Wars was coming 2019 with it coming to X-Wing first and then Legion. Also, like the ST era has jack all to add beyond like 2 expansions. The First Order has a few with choices for their corps like Stormies and Snowtroopers, a few commander options, a heavy in the form of that added armor AT-ST, and maybe a special forces unit with the praetorian guard and then those executor stormies and thats about it.

The Resistance has effectively only commander options at the moment, they lack a support, special forces, and operative options and their standard troopers haven't really had a standout moment to give them much appeal. I think TFA gives them all of half a second walking in front of Leia, and TLJ focuses more on the ski speeders rather than any close ups on the troopers aside from that salt lick scene.

Clone Wars is effectively as flushed out with content as much as the OT is giving FFG a whole bunch to pick from, and gives the ST era time to actually get units hopefully for them to use. As is, I feel that there will likely be frustration to an extent from Rebel and Imperial players who likely won't see many if any expansions geared towards them once the Clone Wars content starts rolling out this year.

Nope, the only named characters in the Pathfinders box is Pao and Bistan. Tarkin would make sense as a Commander, but I'd hope if they gave one side an operative they'd give the other one as well solely so both could be able to choose between two operative choices.

Yeah I see Tarkin as a commander, not an operative. What are the imperial options for operatives? I guess they could do the grand inquisitor, Rukh and... ? I mean there is the rest of the esb bounty bois I guess. I wouldn't say no to a Dengar or IG-88 miniature!

I want some generic operatives for both sides ideally.

ISB investigator operative

I would hope for Thrawn as a commander before Tarkin if they're doing Rebels content.

I'm guessing when we get more Rogue one Operatives for Rebels, we will get Bounty Hunters as their foils with Empire.

ISB will likely be an imperial unit with Infiltrate

Probe Droids would make a great non unique operative

Every day it looks more and more like Clone wars will get a Gencon 19 release. I'm interested to see how it goes when VIGs don't get early line access this year.

I think the shore trooper or “mud trooper” are likely candidates for imperial corps.

Echo base troopers are the most logical rebel corps left.

I think mounted/cavalry type units are a possibility. Having additional operatives seems likely too.

I would really like an alternative pack of heavy weapons & hard points - upgrades and troopers you could integrate with one or more of your existing units that offer it new flexibility (maybe a z6 stormie, or rebels with access to more impact weapons, or some solid ion options for the vehicle meta — also maybe a t47 fix or some new weapons to try on the heavies?)

That would be interesting if Rukh could be both a Rebel or Imperial operative since he defected.

Rukh didn't defect he died. You are confusing him with Kallus?

In the EU he did, and was the one who assassinated Thrawn. Rebel's take on him was.... lacking.

Clone Wars stuff is certainly happening this year. I'm expecting a similar roll out as we saw with the GCW stuff. 1 hero, 1 corps, 1 light support, 1 heavy support per faction, with probably an extra commander, corps, and light support unit following suit.

Hoping for:
Hero: Anakin or Obi-Wan vs Grevious

Corps: Phase I Clone Troopers (Phase II to be released later) vs B1s

Light Support: AT-RTs vs Dwarf Spider Droid
Heavy Support: TX-130 Saber-class Fighter Tank vs AAT

For GCW units, I'd like to see Shore Troopers and more importantly, Imperial Army Mudtroopers released, but the hard part would be getting multiple Rebel Corps units to release alongside them. Echo Base troopers sure, and then Scarif troopers (even though that's what Pathfinders look like)? Or would we actually start getting "native" units like Mimbanese, Ewoks, Sullstans, Mon Cala, etc?

More "prophetically" I'd expect at least another named Operative or commander for both sides. The game seems to love it's named heroes, so we've got to cram another named character or five into the game.

Ahh. I haven't watched that series. I mixed him up with Boodi Rook from Rogue one.

I also stand partially corrected. Always confusing when EU and new canon overlap.

My only predictions for Legion are that FFG will continue to keep up the relative breakneck pace of releases (I believe that previously someone high up in Legion stuff said they could support monthly releases for the first 2-3 years of the game), and that Clone Wars stuff will be out at some point.

As for how I hope Clone Wars is launched, I'd like to see either a new starter box (with similar units inside, possibly AT-RT for GAR, and a pair of STAPs for CIS?), or two "half starters" to help kick off Clone Wars collections.

+1 to this

If they stick with their current release model we will get an Imperial-only release in May followed by a Rebel-only release in June. We know that "Worlds" for Legion is June 21-23rd so I doubt we will see Clone Wars prior to that. With the releases FFG has done with Runewars, Legion, and X-Wing 2.0 I've learned to stop wasting time speculating and just enjoy what the game has to offer.

I would expect Clone Wars factions to get the "half starter" treatment. That is how they introduced additional factions for Runewars and how they are implementing the Clone Wars factions for X-Wing 2.0. It would be nice if they released an "Essentials" kit with dice, cards, etc from the Core Set like they did with Runewars when they release Clone Wars.

I'm hoping they do a copy of the GCW starter and do

Anakin
2 units of clone troopers
2 Barc speeders

@NeonWolf I think May is likely to be the new vehicles, as they are slated for the second quarter of 2019. Like the support specialists, it might be a month with a release for each faction.

Well, this is what I'm basing my timeline on. So far FFG has managed to release something every month, near the end of the month. We had Chewie+Wookies in December so...

January 24th: Specialist (both factions)
February: Jyn + Pathfinders
March: Krennic + Death Troopers
April: Heavies (both factions)

I got a second Veers and painted him up like Thrawn in the season 3 finale of Rebels, cause... I want

If there's a huge demand for gaming in that era (which I find unlikely) then you just make them up. Like they invented rebels on AT-RT's.

I'm not sure what I'll do in 2019: in 2018 my painting was definitely dominated by Legion. At some point I'll pick up wookies and more Atgars probably. Maybe sell a core sets worth of Hoth-colored rebels just to make room in storage boxes for to paint new generic ones to base a not-Hoth-rebel army off of but... the repetitive nature of the releases have left me feeling bored with Legion and mentally I'm starting to shift gears to another system for awhile. There's a lot that I'm still excited to do with Legion, but, I have no idea if or when that's ever going to be supported by a diverse product range. Maybe I'll go back to focus on painting Oldhammer Fantasy Battles models for Kings of War/Dragon Rampant, paint more 40k stuff, or revisit some of my historical armies.
