Return to Dunwich - Where Doom Awaits issue?

I'm playing through Return to the Dunwich Legacy, and i've got to Where Doom Awaits, and i'm hoping i'm missing something, otherwise this scenario seems broken.

I complete Act 1, which says to Reveal Ascending Path, and remove all clues from each location in play.
I have act 2 (I), which says clues cannot be placed on non-altered locations, and to advance when an investigator enters sentinel hill.
Sentinel hill can't be entered without spending clues.
So i need to get some clues to advance.

The original Ascending path has an investigate action that puts a random Altered Path into play instead of discovering a clue - however I have in play the new version of Ascending Path, which has a clue value of 3, and says "forced - after you discover 1 or more clues from ascending path: spend those clues to put that many random set aside altered path locations into play".

So unless i'm missing something, i reveal this location, put clues on it, then remove all clues from all locations in play, leaving me with no clues on it, and none anywhere else.
At this point, I have no way to advance....?

Am i missing something?

Edit: In the end I just assumed the intention was that the clues should remain on ascending path and played on from there.

Understandable issue and I haven't played it, but it seems clear that the Ascending Path is not meant to be a location where the clues are removed from by that instruction. I think this is one where the intent is clear even if they made a technical goof in how the instructions are laid out.
