Commandos or Pathfinders?

By Kingsguard, in Star Wars: Legion

Looking at possibly buying a Special Forces unit now. Having difficulty deciding between Rebel Commandos or Pathfinders.

What's everyone think of them? Ostensibly snipers seem to me to be very handy while Staying suppressed without being panicked seems very risky.

Since the Pathfinders aren't out yet, nor fully revealed I think it's hard to say, since people will have play experience with the Commandos, but just armchair theorycrafting for the Pathfinders.

From what I have seen, I think the Pathfinders would benefit from having Jyn deployed with them just to help prevent panic.

or stay within 2, which isn't too hard.

So far, I'm more concerned with Pathfinders being long range Fleet troopers. I don't know that all their fancy add-ons are really going to make them much better, when they get shot, they die and then their efficiency plummets. You're still going to want 2+ sniper strike teams in every just about.

It is a bit hard to tell without knowing everything about the Pathfinders. It does appear they will have some flexibility that the Commandos do not have. I certainly am liking the Pathfinders, but I do hope they do not completely replace the Commandos. As others have said, if you are going to play the Pathfinders, you are likely going to have to use Jyn (if you are going to take advantage of their deployment ability).

From what we can see if we on the article, I think that the Pathfinders are going to be the better choice vs the full commando team. Depending on how the ion rifle for Pathfinders functions it might become a staple in rebel lists. For the cost they still are a little frail for me

Hey now, they'd better stay away from my Fleet Troopers. They're my favorites and I would be sad to see them obsolete.

Perhaps I can stick with Leia and only partially use the deployment ability... Maybe put them up by cover and just run Luke or Leia over quickly...Or I guess just use the Comms Technician from the specialists pack for a comm link.

I doubt that a more expensive unit that throws less dice, whose heavy weapon is unique, doesn't have access to pierce, whose unit type cap is smaller, and takes away from a spot that can be filled with a sniper is going to make fleet troopers obsolete

I would be hard pressed to not deploy my two full commando squads with snipers. They seem to be the most reliably effective units in my force; I'm not considering pathfinders at all in the short term.

I have definitely seen the value in commandos as a full unit or unit plus sniper.

The pathfinders aren’t out yet, so we don’t know everything.

I don’t play Rebels currently, but they’re finally getting enough unit types that interest me model wise that I’m contemplating adding them. I would happily grab two commando units and run them as unit + heavy.
