How Far Do You Travel for Tournaments?

By AllWingsStandyingBy, in Star Wars: Armada

Nearest known active armada community is 5-6 hours (8 in bad weather last time). Also have to make a border crossing every time, but I'm getting used to the sour look of the officer when when we say our business in their country is playing with plastic space ships. Next closest tournament is 8 hours drive. Flying is expensive in our neck of the woods, but we've debated a 1000mile round trip on the railroad tracks.

Good news is we are just recently having enough locals to do 4 or 6 person informal 'tournaments' for bragging rights.

Are we all crazy?

I have driven 2 hours for a Store Championship, 5 hours for a regional. I'm also getting on a plane later this month to go to the Atlanta regional. It should be fun!

20 minutes for all. I am lucky that we have an active community. I missed regionals in San Antonio though and will be driving an hour in Feb for regionals there.

7 hours with train in february for regionals. 1½-2 hours with car for most tourneys, (Store champs, Nordics and Regionals )

2 hour drive for store champs.

6 hour drive for regionals.

The noteworthy detail here is that I have family or friends in the cities I go to for those 6 hour drives so I crash on couches. I’m not sure I would go if I had to pay hotel costs
