I was thinking about the nature of rituals, and how different they are from invocations. I think it's normal that (almost) everyone should have access to Rituals, considering how close to shrine life they are (since few shrines have resident shugenja) and the importance of their effects.
That said, I was wondering what happens when actual shugenja are using rituals? Should they be allowed to treat them as invocations, allowing for offerings and channeling, at the price of risking a backlash? As a shugenja player myself, I find that it sort of makes sense to also pick up rituals (it's even part of most shugenja's starting kit and school curriculum), but I find it quite weird that I'm not allowed to use my usual tools. In my mind, rituals could be the catch all Void/General invocation type.
I'm planning on bringing this up with my GM, but I'd like to have some opinions here first. Would this break the rules or contradict lore or have some other adverse effect I didn't see?
