Hyperspace: Trip Upsilon or Trip Firespray?

By EAuyang, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Anyone have success running:

3x Bounty Hunter (Firespray PS2)

(198 pts) (Maybe add Deadman's Switch to one of them for a full 200)

or

2x Starkiller Base Pilot with Pattern Analyzer

Captain Cardinal with Pattern Analyzer, Captain Phasma, and Hull Upgrade

(199 pts)

I'm seriously considering 3x Firesprays...30 hp, dual firing arcs, 3 red, 2 green on a medium maneuverable base...

3x Upsilons seems like it would be fun just for having those 3 huge wingspans on the table. 37hp on that list, just a bit weak if they get flanked with ships behind them. I'm not looking for anything that is going to win a 300 player system open, just a fun list for a local tourney.

i like 3 firesprays. looks like fun. i played this squad in 1.0 and the 2.0 firespray is much improved.

just wondering if ull have trouble vs enemy boba fetts and fen rau who will trump ur initiative and arc dodge ur attacks and slide into ur flank/blind spot.

u should be able to lock up some area in the centre of the map but after the first engagement u could find things hard.

Bounty Hunters are very good, I think 2 & Han is probably a legit list.

3 Upsilons went 3-0 at a little event local to me.

You could do 2 and Fenn Rau. A little balance is normally worth it.

That being said it sounds fun running 3. I wouldn’t run deadman’s switch. Likely to hit you too.

3 Upsilons + Muse is a beast. We had two at our event last night and they went 1st and 2d. I beat one ... barely.

So much beef ... **** black space water buffalo.

Han/Trickshot/HotshotGunner/4-LOM/0-0-0+BH+BH(200pts)

something like this might be interesting. Han strips focus from enemy ships with HSGunner and can lock them out of even using it with 4-LOM. Initiative 3 Bounty Hunters are pretty decent blockers and should be able to line up rear arc to catch any fast ships on your flanks. Thats the theory anyway.

The local tourney a No Glory one?

Just played a trip Ups and it wrecked my SF list. Tavson Dormitz Starkiller. The I2s had adv sensors. All with hyperspace tech. All place at i6, tavson and starkiller both start with focus evade evade and gets into range on turn 1 with a lock and one with a reinforce from Dormitz coordinate. Crazy beginning.

After that, the one pr two ups that get a shot, the other other ones are coordinating so it gets full mods on its four dice, and it can reinforce.

My SFs melted without a boost to get passed those arcs. Really need a boost against that list.

Dormitz

Tavson Starkiller

SF SF SF Midnight

-----my edge------

Generics, no upgrades.

Weakest part of a trip Upsilon's list? I'm concerned High PS pilots can arc dodge and get behind after the initial engagement.

You dont keep all arcs pointing in the same direction. One 2 sharps, one 1 banks, one 1 straights. A lot of territory and you coordinate actions to the dude taking damage or the one that most likely will get a shot. You are looking for one full mod 4 dice shot and maybe a 4 dice single mod shot. Setup locks for future rounds with Tavson ability or other coordinates. Keep all three alive as long as possible. Once one takes damage, make sure it's always reinforced.

This has been my favorite squad to run with Ups has been this. They chase around my tie fighters while my ups get in firing positions. Muse to clear stress and Null to get ace pilots that try to arc dodge in his sights. It's been a way fun list to run.

Upsilon -class Shuttle - •Lieutenant Tavson - 71
•Lieutenant Tavson - Obedient Shuttle Pilot (62)
•Captain Phasma (5)
Ablative Plating (4)

Upsilon -class Shuttle - •Petty Officer Thanisson - 60
•Petty Officer Thanisson - Alert Flight Controller (60)

TIE/fo Fighter - •“Null” - 34
•“Null” - Epsilon Ace (31)
Elusive (3)

TIE/fo Fighter - •“Muse” - 35
•“Muse” - Epsilon Leader (32)
Elusive (3)

Total: 200/200

I knew ;)

Yeah, it's a pseudo collision detector for medium and large ships without a system slot. It's not available in hyperspace though.

ya my hyperspace list I pull Ablative Plating off and either add advanced optics on Tav or both Ups get Hyperspace Tracking Data

Didn't try 3 Firesprays yet, but this looks as something worth considering.

As preparation to Hyperspace, yesterday I played some games with 2 Bounty Hunter + Fenn Rau (200p).

Really fun list to fly with good fire power, solid health pool and arc dodging + blocking options
