Deploying on obstacles

By gennataos, in X-Wing Rules Questions

I thought I'd be able to find this, but my Google-fu is failing.

When one deploys on top of an obstacle (via Boba crew, Resistance Han, Hyperwave Comm Scanner), do you suffer the effects of that obstacles? (roll dice for damage, stress for debris)

No, because deploying is not moving through or overlapping.

You are, however, still at range 0 of the obstacle, so if you deploy on an asteroid and somehow get an attack opportunity before you activated, you would not be able to perform said attack.

or if you perform a stop maneuver. you do not roll for damage or skip your perform action step in that case either. you still cannot shoot, though.

◊ A ship that executes this maneuver counts as executing a maneuver, does not overlap any ships, does trigger the effects of overlapping any obstacles at range 0, and continues to be at range 0 of any objects it was touching before executing this maneuver.

Actually, you do trigger the obstacle effects. Per your quote (bold by me):
