Pre-order dilemma... how many officers to order?!

I'll probably get two Imperial sets. Though I could just get 1 and use the multitude of other SW minis that exist out there as proxies just to have some variety.

Yeah... I'm strongly considering using a custom color scheme Fleet Trooper commander as a proxy for a second one of this and throwing the rest of the squad in the bitz box. Actually, as long as I never include Fleet troopers in my army I have potentially several proxies without getting confused!

1 of each to see how they go in game and if I like the models. Easier to buy extras than have too many.

The real maddening question is, why hasn’t FF dropped the article spoiling the cards in the Specialists so we know enough to make an informed preorder choice?

Just sayin’.

That's a **** good question. I saw on FB that they weren't dropping a Legion article last week, but they "might be" this coming week. Not sure why they did an X-Wing article for something that won't be out until next month but haven't done the specialist pack before it's officially labeled as shipping.

I used to only buy SW:L stuff as fast as I could paint it. Now that I realize it only takes MINUS NONE MINUTES to paint these giant minis to tabletop standard, I only buy more once I've painted and played with the last new thing. Going with that rule, I guess I'll only get one?

They still have about a week and a half before the expected release date (according to the Spanish FFG site, should be released January 24th in the US).

True, though the cut off date for pre-orders arriving by the release date is rapidly coming up. Still odd that they haven't done an article on them, considering they shouldn't be that different (minus the command cards) and could be handled pretty quickly.

You know I was thinking "What do we really need to know besides the Repair/Heal values of the droids?" and then went out to the first article and noticed the Command Cards as well. Plus there is the Comms upgrade which was hinted at in the article plus the face down upgrade card which we really have no idea what type it is! Considering we know we are getting Recon Intel as the Gear upgrade, I'm wondering if that's also a new Command upgrade since it would not make sense to give us a Commander but no Command upgrade to fill that slot.

There's actually quite a bit of info still unknown.

To be fair, we usually get a preview/announcement and then a release day article (or really close to release day) for each unit. considering we got the vehicles this Monday, I'm expecting the personnel preview next Monday or so. Sure, it isn't a great turn around for upcoming major events, but the team that covers the FFG front page is not that connected to the individual games.
