The next day, a bunch of threads complaining about the points.
The next day? I'll give it about 10 minutes. If that.

I'll be disappointed if it's not the very first post.

I'm already upset that they didn't reduce the costs of the Defender or Gunboat enough.
edit: Jamming Beam is still overpriced.

It’s overpriced at free
(slight snark, but I legitimately don’t think I’d ever pay more than 1 point for it. And I even _used_ jamming beam in 1st ed)

- the cost increase wasn't enough
- this didn't need a cost increase
- where is the cost adjustment for _________
- can we subtract 5 points from _________ it currently over-costed.
Beat me to it. I was looking for a "points predictions" thread to post that in because salt is the one guaranteed thing that the points changes will bring.
I was really hoping these would be released by now. I am trying to prep for Adepticon and need to know if a pivotal card in my list is going up. I'm not sure if I'm liking this new system.

It's one of those upgrades that would really benefit from alternate victory conditions, a la Armada. If there were rules that promoted capturing specific ships intact, then things like Jamming Beam and Ion Cannons would be more useful. As it stands, there is virtually no scenario where I'm going to waste a R1 attack rolling four dice from a Jamming Beam.
Heck, if they just tweaked the rules to allow it to remove any blue or green token, that would be something. At least then you might have tactical considerations where you could strip a blue Cloak token, reducing a target's agility by two.

Let's skip the waiting and just start the threat now.
I can't believe [upgrade] is still [X] points! That's stupid! And putting [pilot] up to [Y] points? Totally unreasonable!

Nah, it’s Resistance Bias now. They’ve moved on.

Considering how bad Rebels are now, I'm pretty confident someone will call them being not crap "Rebel Bias". Although a lot of people seem under the impression that FO and Resistance points aren't already tuned off January which I'm pretty sure is the case.

Pretty much guaranteed. If you think it's bad now wait until people are properly furious that their personal vision of how to fix the world didn't come true. And that it's 6 months til the next points window.
FFG personally promised everyone that they'd balance X-Wing to their personal liking and make sure that their favourite ship is Good(tm) but not Too Good(tm).
There will be blood.

This is precisely correct.
It's never worth using, even if it doesn't cost points.

I think it could have some utility against big ships now they've allowed it to strip away reinforce tokens - If I had 4 T-70s I'd rather have a jamming beam on one and then three primary shots at an unreinforced target, than four at a reinforced one.
That's such a specific niche (especially since the VCX and Decimator aren't all that great) that I agree I'd be very hesitant to spend points on it. though. Throwing a single tractor beam on a hardpoint of a squad of four sounds like something you'd get use out of often enough to justify it. A jamming beam? Not so much.

The biggest problem is that you have to hit to apply the token. So even if it did strip cloak tokens, you've to hit a cloaked ship that doesn't want to be hit.
It'd also have rather more appeal if it had a lot of attack dice - if it was 4 or more dice, even if it only ever inflicted jam tokens then at least you could be confident of hitting with the bloody thing.
Specifically against reinforce, with 4+ ships, I'd take one for free.
Reinforce using ships are soo meta now of course....
I believe triple Upsilon went unbeaten at my local store's first Hyperspace event.
Beams should have had their own special rules and slot. We could fill a whole thread with why jamming Beam is garbage and what could have been done differently. Instead the best we can hope for is a price drop. It needs to go down three points to ever see play.
If it was -1 point it is standard on all cannon capable ships without cannons, and that will be played alot, and then we might see it get used. But I don't think we will see it cost -1 points.
