New X-Wing mini w/o binder works just fine.

By Mark Caliber, in X-Wing Off-Topic

Hey everyone,

The good news is that I finally got my hands on the core set. I also picked up a spare box of the Saw Guerra kit with the rules conversion so that's two of the new X-Wings that I introduced to my inventory.

The Saw-G X-Wing has the gummy stuff that holds the wings and there's been some discussion on the forums on how effective that holds the wings (and it's not great as it perfectly holds the wings at the half open/half closed position all the time).

However, the X-Wing in the Core set has no gum and the wings work fine. The natural friction from the plastic is sufficient to hold the wings either fully open or fully closed. I suppose if the wings are too lose there might be some issues with game play when moving the mini, but between the Servometer card and the basic, hey these wings were open before I moved the mini, I'll just re-open them if they close during transit, this seems to be a working solution.

But yeah, my no gum X-Wings work just fine.

Has anyone else seen any of these X-Wings in their kit?

I'm not all that technical, but is it possible to disassemble these new X-Wings? I'd love to clean out the Gum on the Saw-G X-Wing.

Read this thread and attached links:

I still haven't cleaned mine out just because I have other models I can put down. But it's definitely possible.

Back To Dials has you covered.

Followed their instructions and cleaned mine up, now they work fine.

Thank you!

Coming to one of my weekends soon!
