If 5 T-65s was supposed to be too good, why isn't 5 Khirax's a thing?

Drea has the potential to bust them wide open if they get too cheap - if players start to figure out better ways to use her, I could see Kasldnjaskldjlasdjlaskdjlaskj becoming a thing. 3 attack dice backed up by 6 health is nothing to sniff at.

They're really good with Drea, and just 1 point off the basic Cartel Marauder would let you run four of them with a Dorsal Turret Drea. Speaking from the experience of having won a FLGS tournament with the triple Kihraxz, ion Drea, ion Scyk list I posted above, being able to turn that Scyk into another Kihraxz would be pretty strong in terms of raw firepower.

How did you cope with e.g. Triple Proton Torpedoes from Luke, Wedge, and Norra?

That is, something which can erase Drea before any of your ships can shoot? Were the remaining ships able to kill Luke? (They should be able to drop Wedge in exchange, but Luke is tougher.)

Careful use of obstacles and range control - Drea can usually cope with two torpedo shots and survive, but not three. However, if you've got a staggered approach with your ships (and one of the really nice things about the Drea swarm is that it doesn't need to be a tight formation), you can usually engineer it so that you've got only one or two of your opponent's ships in range of Drea on the opening exchange.

If you get all of your ships pointing at Luke, he can start taking damage surprisingly quickly when you're rolling three attack dice. That's not to say it isn't a tough matchup - it is - but you've got some tools to put pressure on your opponent.

Thanks. I'm going to try it out. I ran 5 Cartel Marauders a few times last year, and 5 Sabre Squadron Aces in 2 events since September. This sounds like it'll be fun!

This is where I think you have got to include a tug or two in a Drea Swarm. Give your opponent something even juicer to shoot at than Drea.

Well, I could drop the Scyk for a Quad and maybe also add an extra shield/R4 astro to Drea. But one of the attractions of the list for me is running some Kihraxzs again.

This topic is my kind of Scum.

Why?

They demonstrably weren't at the tail end of 1e, and the chassis has only improved in 2e while, in general, the power curve has been flattened.

Is the difference literally just FAA?

Or is it maybe that the list would specifically be weak against the current meta?

FAA is part of it, but mostly the meta. Cheap/plentiful guns w/ no high value target were strong against fat TLT platforms, but Aces arc dodge them and Boba deals with them using a combination of arc dodging, token stacking, and non-exhaustible defensive rerolls.
