It'll take some doing, but if you can keep Midnight out of the fight (or at least out of the initial pass) then he's capable of really cleaning up against a lot of opponents in the endgame.

Quickdraw, Scorch and Backdraft are a nice trio. Ion missiles are an interesting choice - I'll be honest, I doubt you'll ever reliably ionize people because you need 2 uncancelled hits to ionize even a small ship, but they're a nice, cheap alternative to a special forces gunner - and one that might well be a better choice if you get a range 3 shot off.

Ive been flying BF with Fana/Fcs and kiting ships at R3 picking evades as action. Been working really good.

Ion is just there to help initial engage (the Threat of ion is nice)and work at R3. Homing missiles are a viable option as well.

Ion tokens doesn't disappear until ship perform Ion move, so you can initially put single Ion token even on the medium/big ship and then wait with the second shot until enemy is in bad spot (so when next ion token would walk him off board or onto rock). This can seriously hinder enemy's maneuverability.

I think the point that was being made is that ion missiles are only a 3-dice attack and the first uncancelled hit or crit always does damage, so there’s a very good chance that you won’t even apply the single ion token needed to ionise a small ship...

That. Ion missiles are - in my mind - cheap 3-dice, 3-charge missiles that cap out at 1 damage and very occasionally ionize someone. Because you need 2 un-cancelled hits, it's quite realistic for a sizeable volley of ion missiles to fail to ionize a target (though I'd like to think they'd take a nice chunk out of it in the process).

If you actually want to reliably ionize a target, you need to be thinking about range 1 and/or linked battery ion cannons, or ion torpedoes.
