This is the latest version of my attempt at making a VCX Voltron list viable in Extended. I finally ditched Lothal Rebel and realized Hera is actually a steal going from I2 to I5 for just 6 points and would help a lot with my endgame by letting the VCX get one more attack off before dying. Also has the added bonus of Jan being able to coordinate her before she k-turns. You'll notice there's no bonus attack shenanigans, the Ion turret is purely there for arc coverage because I've noticed that a big base ship with only a front arc is very easy to overshoot the enemy with, and in a recent game I played Jan was doing a ton of work just because she was able to attack every round thanks to that mobile arc. I've also ditched the attack shuttle for Airen, who helps overcome the issue of Hera getting a lock on high initiatives by letting her do it during the engagement phase, which is also the main reason I'm running Nien, though he also has nice synergy with Hera's ability. I guess I should explain the main strategy here, Jan banks a focus round 1, then Jan coordinates a focus to Hera on the round of engagement, Hera takes a reinforce with her regular action, then Airen gives Hera a lock during combat before she fires, and Jan adds an attack die so we've got 2 modified 3 dice attacks and a double modified 5-6 dice attack.
What I'm not sure is if there's a trick to setting up the debris so that I can increase my chances of triggering trick shot with Hera without having to actually go over the rock? Also I'm wondering if 8 points is a deep enough bid against other I5s so that Airen can fire his concussion missiles reliably at I5s.
