Worlds Waitlist

By kennydkbrown, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

Hey all, I am trying to get an idea as to how many players are currently on the Worlds Waitlist. Please let me know if you are on whatever official waitlist FFG has set up. Has anyone tried to get on the waitlist recently? Is that possible? Do they give you any kind of an idea as to what you're looking at for probability of admission?

Thank you!

I wish I could go. It ended up being for the better as life plans came up. But I also didn't want to wait until a few weeks before to find out if I'm in or not. Good luck fellas!

I was wondering the same thing. Would love to go, especially since I live about 10 minutes from the convention center. Hate to buy a pass, get on the wait list, then find out I can't get a ticket to play Imperial Assault. At that point can't get a refund, and most likely wouldn't be playing any other games.

I'm on the Adepticon waitlist, or whatever is the queue I entered when I registered the event. I don't know if you refer to the same or I missed anything.

To be honest, I have not received any communication from FFG (or anyone) about the waitlist so far and most likely I won't go. On top of that I don't expect to get a refund of the ticket :( given the lack of transparency and visibility of the whole process.

The way this is handled is basically "How to ruin your reputation and customer faith 101".

Agreed. I have lost a lot of faith in them. I've been so not impressed with Organized Play. I still love the game better than any other star wars game.

Thanks for letting me know. I am just trying to get any information I can get on the Waitlist so that, hopefully, we can get more people to attend. I think a lot of people are feeling burned by the process.

While I see the value in making Worlds an invite-only event for something like X-Wing, I don't see how it helps IA to copy that formula.

Surely if they opened it up to 100 seats they could get around 70 bodies in there, if you could just buy a ticket at will?

The FFG Winter Sale barometer for game health sadly could not be used to check on IA, since they can't sell it directly, but they sure did liquidate Runewars...

EDIT: To make a monkey out of me for this post, apparently (though they needed little help), FFG posted that only X-Wing and Legion will be invite-only, and that Runewars is essentially dead now, by way of OP support being cutoff. They didn't say no new product would be released for the game, so I guess it's whatever they've basically got in the pipeline and that's it.

So for IA doom-and-gloom, at least we didn't get that article?

Of course it would be silly to announce the end of the game this far out from Worlds? Maybe they'll do a much needed map rotation, then do Worlds, then let as all down gently with an article of our own? 🤷‍♂️

FFG articles posted shortly after I wrote this

+1 for FFGOP is a joke of a mess and people need to be fired for letting this punchline go on this long.

Article was just released about the changes made to worlds. They knew about this and ran with the changes months ago, keeping it a state secret for some reason.

And where is this waitlist? It's not in the new article, can't find much in the OP section. Or do I have to go through Adepticon channels?

@theChony you have to get on through Adepticon.

Reading this , it sounds like it's not so much a wait list as a general sale on March 4th.

It's what I'm wondering since the article came out. What's the point of the so-called Adepticon wait list then?

It would be nice to know how many slots will open up in March. As mentioned by others, hate to spend the money on a badge to only find out I can't get a ticket to play IA.

They won't know the numbers until spots go unclaimed. There is a deadline for Regional winners, and anyone else who is able to, to claim their seats. Whatever goes unclaimed, opens up to the public.

The message was late, but it is pretty clear how you will get to Worlds if you don't have a ticket yet or win a regional.

Just got an email from Adepticon pretty much saying the same. Once they know how many of the 40 spots are claimed, the rest will open up for the wait list. The person from Adepticon did say they were waiting to hear from FFG.

It’s pretty dumb that it is an 80 ticket event. I asked on Twitter if that 80 tickets included reserved slots for regionals and higher winners, ffgop said “there are reserved spots” basically. And then magically it dropped from 80 available slots to 40 (a few days before tickets went on sale/adepticon registration was opened).

That’s the thing that ticks me off more than anything. They couldn’t even communicate with their venue and they dropped the worlds cap from approximately 120 to 80. When we have basically sold it out the last two years at about 120. Let’s move away from FFG cuz space limitations...but let’s make our worlds event for IA smaller...

MASTERCHIEFSPIFF IS DADGUM MAD.

Yeah, it's dumb, but FFG isn't going to fix it. So I have embraced the nihilism of the position and am just trying to figure out how many people are actually on the waitlist so we can determine what everyone's chances are.

I realize it's a little early, but who plans on showing up to play/practice on that Thurs/Fri before World's? Would love to meet some people and play some games.

Lol, I'm not all caps mad Kenny ;)

But it is their job so they should know what they're doing

I know a couple from our group will be their Thursday late evening(?) and then at the Con all day Friday. Probably 4 of us for Friday.

Hi guys,

Any update or news on the Adepticon waitlist or the general sale on the 4th March?

Thanks.

We will be opening up any remaining tickets held for qualifiers to those on the waitlist shortly. So if you are interested make sure you get on the waitlist.

Like any big company, they're cutting where they think they can save money. Too bad its ruining the tournament scene.

Yup. My guess is they won't be using the Ramada near their home office in Minnesota for Worlds anymore. That being said, keeping the IA and Armada Worlds event alive by putting it at Adepticon still costs them money, so it makes sense to make it smaller.

My concern was spending $35 on a badge, then paying $30 to be on the wait list and not getting a chance to play. $65 wasted if that ended up being the scenario. Wasn't going for any other events, so not a gamble I was willing to take. Good luck to those on the list.

Hi all,

Just FYI, I was in the waitlist and yesterday I got an email asking if I was still interested. Seems there were finally more tickets available.

I hope we'll be more than 80 players.
