Hello all. A couple of quick questions regarding BB-8, S-Foils, Primed Thrusters, and the "May" vs "Can" rule in the rules reference.
1. Does S-Foil position matter on the T-70 X-wing when using BB-8's ability to execute a barrel roll? The barrel roll only appears on the T-70 action bar when the integrated S-foils are closed. However, BB-8's text states "Before you execute a blue maneuver, you may spend 1 (charge) to perform a (barrel roll) or (boost) action. I interpret that to mean that regardless of s-foil position, BB-8 allows me to execute a barrel roll. This is similar in nature to Afterburners, which states "After you fully execute a speed 3-5 maneuver you may spend 1 (charge) to perform a (boost) action, even while stressed." I also interpret that to allow a boost action when meeting the "fully execute a speed 3-5 maneuver" clause even if your ship doesn't have boost on their action bar. Am I correct in these interpretations?
2. Does this differ from Primed Thrusters which states "While you have 2 or fewer stress tokens, you can perform (barrel roll) and (boost) actions even while stressed."? In this case it seems that Primed Thrusters is simply allowing you to execute either the barrel roll or boost action even while stressed, but in this case it must be on your action bar. Or is this functionally the same as BB-8 and Afterburners?
3. Is the difference in the "May" vs "Can" rule in the rule reference? The rules reference defines these as:
The word “may” is used to mean “has the option to.”
The word “can” is used to mean “has the capacity to.”
My interpretation here is that since BB-8 and Afterburners both provide the option based on their "May" language while Primed Thrusters simply allows you to take an action when you wouldn't otherwise (2 or fewer stress), but it has to be on your action bar based on the "Can" language (i.e., I have the capacity to execute something on my action bar that I otherwise couldn't). What are your thoughts here?
I might be making this more complicated than it is. Thanks!
