Happy 2019 and Happy Friday

By Cubanboy, in Star Wars: Armada

Hello friends,

As this is the first Friday of 2019, welcome to anyone starting Armada. Every Friday I like to post something encouraging and try to ask a good question to the forum.

Todays question is what are some good habits you have picked up along the way for playing Armada ?

I think the best habit that I've picked up playing Armada is to talk your way through everything that you are doing, especially when moving between phases to ensure that an opponent has the opportunity to use their abilities and to avoid confusion (such as asking "Are we good to move to the Ship Phase?" or "Did you want to use any defense tokens?"). I had an opponent at a Store Championship that kept either stalling or rushing me between the Command and Ship Phases so that I would forgot to activate Han Solo (which worked almost every time). Because of that experience, I wanted to make sure that my opponent was not rushed into making bad decisions, so talking my way through everything seems to help us both have situational awareness to what is going on.

Happy Friday! May this be a spectacular year for all my Armada brothers and sisters.

One habit I picked up is to talk through each step I take. There are so many rules and quirks it's easy to forget something. I haven't played much but it has really helped myself remember certain cards, rules and steps. It also allows my opponent to understand what I'm doing if they're a newbie too, or to help guide me in case I miss something if they're a more experienced player.
