Soontir Swarm?

By kewlguy360, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I was toying around with the best combinations for a mini swarm. Gideon benefits from Seyn, howlrunner for mods, and scourge is just a good ability for extra dice. Any pilot or upgrade changes?

Seyn Marana — TIE/ln Fighter 30
Marksmanship 1
Ship Total: 31
Half Points: 16 Threshold: 2
“Scourge” Skutu — TIE/ln Fighter 32
Crack Shot 1
Ship Total: 33
Half Points: 17 Threshold: 2
Gideon Hask — TIE/ln Fighter 30
Crack Shot 1
Ship Total: 31
Half Points: 16 Threshold: 2
“Howlrunner” — TIE/ln Fighter 40
Crack Shot 1
Ship Total: 41
Half Points: 21 Threshold: 2
Soontir Fel — TIE Interceptor 52
Predator 2
Ship Total: 54
Half Points: 27 Threshold: 2

One suggestion is to swap in Swarm tactics on Soontir so you could shoot Seyn first to hopefully 'activate' bonuses.

Soontir doesn't really want to be on a range 1 'choke chain' of the other TIE fighters, though. If he doesn't fly free and flank he's unlikely to get you your money's worth.

Swarm Tactics on Howlrunner would do the job nicely - still lifting you to I5.

One warning: All of your TIE fighters have abilities which require their target to be in a bullseye arc - crack shot, marksmanship, scourge's pilot ability. Lining up multiple bullseye shots in a swarm is hard - you want them all to line up on the same target but you also want to all be in a range 1 bubble around Rashon for rerolls at the same time. That's some awkward geometry problems.

I feel like Howlie without Iden is just asking for trouble. You can go:

Soontir (Predator)

Howlie

Iden

Seyn

Gideon
