Quasar Fire I (54)

= 77 Points

Squadrons:

• 4 x TIE Fighter Squadron (32)
• 2 x Lambda Shuttle (30)

Looking for any feedback on making this tougher. The bid is to potentially deny initiative to fleets that want it or hijack objectives, notably in a Sloane mirror match. The TIEs are to trade up against aces while offering cost-effective battery dice. Veteran Gunners might not be worth it compared to Flight Controllers. My logic was the fighter activation is 50% Lambda, so it might be worth rerolling poor long range shots, especially with AG. The complete lack of Slicer Tools mitigation continues to trouble me.

@carthwolf if you were curious about my list, here it is.

@The Jabbawookie overall I like your take on a 2 activation list. I definitely think you’ll win the squadron battle vs the thrawn bomber lists I’ve seen. I do think that a sloane ace list might give you trouble but there weren’t many Sloan’s in Portland and I expect more thrawn and Dodonna.

i ran pursuant on my quasar to help with slicer tools. Could be bad, but I did you it once every game.

The pain of only having one title slot is very real. Squall doubles the strategic movements (making it possible to steal the VIP, shove PIC tokens dead ahead out of range, etc.) and grants the generics the first blow they need, otherwise I’d put Pursuant on there in a heartbeat.

I think squall is hands down the better title imo.

I did have my quasar hit with Cham twice in two games, so I was extremely grateful that I had pursuant.

How do you like your squadrons?

I’m open to suggestions. It’s based on what I’ve basically run since Sloane came out (brief forays into Phantoms and the Hateful Eight aside.) 30 points are committed into an average battery and poor AA for a good yellow objective and limiting the second player advantage. Those points need to be made up somewhere; generics are the path I took. Someone else on the forums thought up the ace component as a sort of luxury screen (called it the “four horsemen.”) Howl, Intel and Mauler were auto-includes to begin with, so it wasn’t a stretch to include Soontir.

If you have an idea I’m all ears.

Soontir will die pretty quickly without escorts. Are you hoping that opponents will target Soontir first instead of Dengar? If so, then he's a good choice. And he's got counter 4 with Sloane; that's pretty good.

I was going to suggest Ciena Ree instead of Soontir, but now I see the logic behind Soontir.

I don’t consider Mauler an auto include. My favorite way to run Sloan is with high powered interceptors and 3 aces (howl, dengar, and ciena). The way I kit it out I get 6 dice each squadron on my interceptor alpha strike, up to 5 dice on counters. Just have to watch out for strong flak.
