Double Dodonna 75's

By itzSteve, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

So...I was lucky enough to get a second MC75 from Santa this year and have been trying to come up with a non Raddus, double MC75 list. I came up with the following build, but have questions on what the best use of the Turbolaser slot would be. I have 5pts. for each big ship. I am leaning towards Quad Battery Turrets, but have considered XX-9 and also Dual Turbolaser Turrets. What is the best use of that slot?

I love XX-9’s with Dodonna, pulling double crits always makes me chortle with glee. And the 75’s have enough damage generation to pull double crits quite often. Plus, makes regular contain tokens useless (as long as DCO isn’t around).

Hold on...a standard contain wouldn't work against XX-9? How so?

The standard critical effect says to deal the first damage card face up. XX-9 does not say to do that, and therefore is not the standard critical effect. Ergo, XX-9 is unaffected by a non-DCO contain.

I honestly think it's a little underrated as a throw-in on ISDs for that reason.

Wow...XX-9 just went up in value in some of my other Dodonna lists as well. Thanks!

Not enough bombers, and certainly not enough dedicated ones to justify bomber command center, Toryn Farr maybe but otherwise save your points or find a way to fit in more bombers also if you must have both on one flotilla it really ought to have Bright hope on it. Black dice are accurate enough to not need leading shots and blue dice always hit for at least an accuracy take ordnance experts instead. Also ships with two ordnance slots but nothing on either? I don't see that working at least take ex racks. You lack firepower both on your ships, your squadrons and you're not really gaining defense anywhere to make up for that.

That’s funny, because I was just thinking how much I liked that MFC, which still allows room for dual large. BCC is needed for that unreliable X-wing battery, and to fish for Norra crits. Though empty ordnance slots are painful to see. Switching to ordnance cruisers frees up space...

I’ve been toying around with a double 75 Dodonna list, but mine uses FCT’s, HIE’s, ACM’s, and XX-9’s on Armored Cruisers. The goal is to hit with the side first, get the HIE’s (and maybe the XX-9’s if it pays off), then hit with the front and get the ACM’s and XX-9’s (if you didn’t FCT the first time, otherwise just XX-9, unless ACM’s gets the kill).

The only problem is that it is super fragile. It can down something really fast, like single turn kill an ISD (if you get a third shot off from the second 75), but it is completely unforgiving of mistakes.

Here’s my list:

I’ve toyed with dropping Strat Advisor and Leia for Profundity on the second 75. ::shrug:: Not sure.
