FFG's Super Slick Burn

By AllWingsStandyingBy, in Star Wars: Armada

Did anyone notice that the tagline for the Armada Season 4 Organized Play "article" was "TRY SOMETHING NEW with Season 4 Organized Play..."

Like, at this point, are they just trolling us? Try Something New?! In your game with the slowest release schedule of all of your minis games? In your game where it's been almost a year since a new product has been on shelves? Can anything from the latest wave even qualify as "new" at this point? A game where Rebel players will likely have waited nearly two years for something new , should they ever get another release?

Well played, well played... 🤣 ... :(

So, I see where you’re coming from, and the choice of words is pretty hilarious.

Now, to be that guy ...

All these people have something new to try. For my game tomorrow I’m torn between playing 12 Y-wing spam (good idea,) quadruple Ackbar Scouts (bad idea,) four Arqs and a Cymoon (maybe okay?) and quintuple Lambda (no idea how it would do.). Before I go to sleep tonight I’m going to build an Independence B-wing/YT-1300 list that may top them all. I’ve never played these lists before. So in all seriousness, we collectively have barely begun to scratch the surface of this game’s possibilities. So, I too will have to say: try something new! Two ship only just truly grabbed the limelight. Who’s to say your weird DCaps Pelta spam won’t be next?

Looks like its Montferrat gunnery team Victory 1's for 2019

Could be referring to this is the first time these kits have offered acrylic defense tokens. As far as I know all the previous kits only offered command tokens and defense have been exclusively bigger events.

I mean I get where your coming from, but I have been messing around with with old ships, and come up with some new builds that are actually pretty effective. You can always try something new with the stuff that we have.

The start of the article said it all...

"It's a trap!"

Sure, and I was just being a bit facetious, though some of us old-timers are running thinner and thinner on cards and combos that we haven't yet tried. As a predominately Rebel player, I've flown every ship (and both its variants) and every Admiral multiple times at this point (yes, even Garm and Leia). I think the only unique Squadrons I haven't flown are Ketsu and Han. Now, of course I haven't tried every single theoretically possible Rebel fleet, since there's a near innumerable number of possible combinations... but the vast majority of those represent gullies on the fitness-peaks chart.

Still, it was weird to have " try something new " as the tagline for Armada's Season 4 article instead of the other games, given that Armada has fewer available options than those other games save for Legion, but Legion has been churning out new releases every month so it's more likely they'll be new stuff the players haven't yet been able to try.

I have played since wave 0 so I would consider myself an old timer. I currently play almost every week, and mostly play Empire, but recently have gone on a rebel kick, and after playing rebels for a while I came up with some unique lists that I'm excited to toy with. I am also revisiting bad/forgotten cards and seeing how I can make them work, and doing the same with ships, its so far been a great and fun journey, and despite having been with the game for such a long time, I still keep finding fun new things to do and try.

No silly they meant try a completely new game. Give up and buy a game they actually support.

Folks....

OBVIOUSLY they meant "Try an Arquitens or 5", considering now the playerbase finally has access to them.
