Hey! Trying a quick take to port the Spirit Realms advantages/disadvantages to this edition. Some may be emulated by existing ones, by changing their type to Spiritual, but I feel there is a lot to work with and create interesting new ones, both mechanically and thematically.
I haven't expressly classified them as Distinctions/Passions or Adversities/Anxieties as most can easily be tooled either way. I just included some example of checks that trigger the advantage/disadvantage, and these could either give way to re-rolls or cause/remove Strife, depending on how one looks at it.
Chikushudo; Realm of Animals
Touch of Chikushudo: Same as Animal Bond , with Spiritual tag (could become a Distinction)
Cursed by Chikushudo: (Water)
- Animals steer clear of you and generally take a disliking to your mere presence. Dogs bark at your heels and horses refuse to do what you ask them to do
- Checks to interact with animals, such as Survival (Water) to handle them or Medicine (Water) to care for them
Gaki-do; Realm of the Hungry Dead
Touch of Gaki-do: (Fire)
- The influence of the Gaki push you to dealing death and let your enemies perish with the knowledge that they have failed in their task
- Checks to deal a killing blow, such as Martial Arts (Fire) targeting an incapacitated opponent, or to sow despair among your foes such as Performance (Fire) to cause Strife on them
Cursed by Gaki-do: (Earth)
- You crave some earthly substance or experience without ever being satiated. Similar effects as
Addiction
, with Spiritual tag. Also, Gaki and hungry dead will attack you in priority
Jigoku; Realm of Evil
Touch of Jigoku: (Any)

- Once per scene, you can invert the Taint disadvantage with that Ring without spending a Void Point if thematically appropriate
