Navigation With Foresight Talent

By DM Variyn, in Rogue Trader Rules Questions

(Page 98) Foresight - This Talent allows a player to get a +10 to a Intelligence Test if that player spends 10 minutes thinking.

(Page 83) Navigation (Warp) is a Intelligence Skill

So here is my question can a Navigator use Foresight on his Navigation (Warp) Test on Steps Three or Five of Warp Navigation (Pages 183-186). Note: In the Errata (Page 5) they changed the Perception Tests to Navigation (Warp) Tests.

I was assuming yes, unless the situation deems that the Navigator doesn't have the time to prep. Ex: Quick jumps into or out of the warp. Such as on the Table 7- 4 Warp Travel Encounters (Page 186) on a roll of 49-53 the ship may have to leave warp.

Of course he can. The only point to consider here is: do you want to force your navigator PC's to buy that talent? Personally, as soon as they can buy it I would gift them a minor version which only works with that skill (and I doubt anyone on the table will comply...). I don't allow for the possibility of killing the ship due a bad roll in normal warp jumps, after all.

Well, Navigators' are not particularly known for their divinatory abilities; unlike Astropaths and other Sanctionites. I can see the desire to give the Navigator an edge in their role, but I don't think any GM would force a player to take a talent they weren't looking at... Unless, of course, the player has been playing the character in a manner that it makes sense for the character to develop a particular talent or skill.

ShruG To each their own, I suppose.
