Nameless Vs Named ships

By Muelmuel, in Star Wars: Armada

Some ships are made by their chassis(Lmc80, ISD, AF2) while some are made by their titles(Yavaris, Demolisher, Defiance) and then there are good chassis boosted by good titles (mc30-Admonition, cr90-Jaina's Light) What do you guys think of this phenomenon and how does it influence the game? The biggest impact I see is that ships carried by their titles are often only fielded with that title while those with strong chassis can be/are fielded in multiples.

Somewhat true, Demo fits your definition but there are corner cases. Foresight is a great MC30 title with Mon Mothma. Dodonna's pride is a great CR90 title with Sato and CR90's are cheap enough the can go tireless. Yavaris I'd say fits your statement but I do see Salvation from time to time. On the other hand I a lost never see an Arquitens with a title. I don't know that I have ever seen Vector used on a Gozanti, Imperial squads just don't generally need the speed boost.

I just think some ships just don't have as good a title selection. If the Demo title didn't exist you would see folks flying a Gladiator but because it does exist it becomes an auto add. The question may be more why do some ships have a defining title and others do not?

I'd love to see a Vic title that adds mobility like it adds a click of Yaw at the first joint while at speed 2.

I have to sort of disagree. HMC80s are great without titles - indeed, I only include titles on them if I have extra points leftover after creating the rest of the fleet. The same applies to Demo - I often fly GSDs in pairs or triplets, and don't use demo because it cuts into the points for upgrades on the remaining ships.

Of the examples you used I see multiples of most of them on the mat a lot, and except for Yavaris I would say that I see them with out titles much more than with titles, and even there it is just one of the several Neb-B fielded. So with the examples listed I would say at least in my area the basic argument does not apply, however with ones that you listed as made by their chassis they never hit the mat with out a title and only the one with the title hits the mat most of the time. That being the Assault Frigate with Gallent Haven. If there is one on the field it will 99.9% of the time have that title. As a Empire player the only title that I use a lot (it is very common for all our Empire players to run with out any titles) would be Relentless, so not sure how this fits with your basic thought, but over all it looks like I disagree with most of it, I guess.

I normally fly three Gladiators....lol. Love that thing.

I really love titles. They bring so much more immersion to the game. It is way cooler to think about my Relentless and Avenger on the battle field instead of my generic ISD No.1 and generic ISD No.2. I really wish every expansion would come with some 0 point titles that don't have an effect just so every ship on the field can have a name.

All my ships have names, painted right on the bases. Got a backstory for the fleet, sector, etc, and the fleets ground troops as well, which are my army in Legion. All unified via paint scheme.

I have a similar thing. All of them have more flowery names. But I justify it with things like, Hand of Justice being a ship title. I also plan on building a fleet with Iron Banner weapon names at some point.

eh, well then I think you could make your own personal ones. They have no actual effect on the game so will be just like those number token indicators to know which ship is which, just cooler with the titles :)

Wow! some of you guys mention fleet compositions I haven't even considered.

How does 3x glads work? I've seen 3x mc30s in msu lists that push for 1st player and pass last first activation between rounds for their attack runs.

I had always felt defiance was the default title for Hmc80. Guess I need to review my list building perspective. How are nameless ones run? I suppose cheaply with some form of def retro and an ion upgrade?

Like this, this is what I won this years local store champs with; be advised that this list is specifically designed to favor my playing style, which is hyper aggressive. I usually start at speed three, and stay there unless there's good reason not to. Every ship just navs every turn, with the Gozanti feeding confire tokens for the fleet command. Thrawn holds two confire dials and one repair. As well, I really don't care if this goes first or second.

As a side note. I plan on building Legion Models that represent my ship captians and give them a bit of a fun story as well. The Empire(republic) may be a bit harder... obviously.
