Like Torg's new Kickstarter why isn't FFG exploring this for more expansive supplement ideas.

So... you agree, then.

No, because the point is wrong headed. Marvel producing things titled Legends proves pretty much nothing beyond the owner of an IP is using what they own. The comparison between Marvel and FFG is apples and oranges.

And, unless I’ve missed something, all of Marvel’s new material is part of the new canon. What they’ve (re)printed under the “Legends” banner is existing material that pre-dates the reset. LFL has never had a problem keeping that pre-existing material in print; it's why the “Legends” banner was created in the first place.

That's an interesting point that they are beholden to the mouse's whims

Not really, FFG is beholden to Lucasfilm. Disney owns Lucasfilm, but their involvement basically boils down to "make money, don't do anything horrific"

For the most part this is true. But all of their publish work still has to be vetted and approved by LFL, and occasionally they will get requirements on a certain book. I believe FFG was told for one of their books (I don't recall which) to include a specific species. I haven't had my coffee so the specifics are fuzzy at the moment.

I believe he was referring to limited involvement by Disney proper.

I was. I know Lucasfilm will step in occasionally to give input as to how their IP is handled. Disney will pretty much never tell LFL how to run their IP.

There is also the question of whether or not FFG would even want to do a Kickstarter. Have they ever done it before? I don't think so. They parted ways with Dust and Pablo Parente before they went on to a disastrous relationship with Battlefront Miniatures and a kickstarter that failed to deliver (That's an entirely separate topic and a rabbit hole of blame games that I don't want to go down). My point is: before we blame a Disney/Lucasfilm overlord conspiracy, does FFG even consider Kickstarters as viable business plans? I'm guessing no.
