Take the Hill 500 pts Rebels

By manoftomorrow010, in Army Building

EDIT, DISCLAIMER: These are the only Rebels I own right now (2x Core and 1 Commandos). I may get more for the holiday, which may change what I'm capable of playing.

Hi! I've played a couple games in our League where we're using the Take the Hill operation. Since we're playing the rivals league setup, where we play an opponent once per week, we're also allowed to change our forces up week to week.

I'm playing Rebels am considering changing my list below by adding an AT-RT with a rotary blaster or flamethrower.

493 TOTAL

Luke Skywalker + Force Push + Force Reflexes + Emergency Stims (193)

Troopers + Trooper + Z6 (72)

Troopers + Trooper + Z6 (72)

Troopers + Trooper + Z6 (72)

Troopers (40)

Commando Strike Team + Sniper (44)

I don't feel like I've gotten my money's worth out of my snipers in this game setup. I'm considering dropping the sniper team and blank trooper squad for an AT-RT.

AT-RT + Rotary Blaster (85)

i lose one activation, and I don't think anyone is going to play much impact in this smaller point, outside of DLTs.

So far in both games I've played the "Control the Battlefield" objective. So I thought the AT-RT might not be great for that, or, would be great and hard to take down for standard troopers and could draw more fire.

Any tips?

In 500 point games most empire players will bring Veers, which usually means they’ll have 7 activations. So, I’d definitely go with the first list. If it were me, I’d drop reflexes and the extra troopers and add another Z-6 to that naked squad. If you have the points (and a new set) I’d also think about converting one of the troopers to a squad of fleets with scatter.

Both Imperial opponents I've faced played Vader 😅 and I know a guy has been playing Palpatine, too, so I'm not sure we have a group that tries to max out activations. I've had more activations in both games so far.

I don't have fleets now but could in the near future.

To your point, at least adding another Z6 is a good idea. And Luke's Reflexes don't really get used at all. From my first game I've slimmed down on the upgrades and I think Reflexes is the next to go.

I am a fan of the 500pt format and the AT-RT! I’m glad to hear you guys are running a Take the Hill league.

I think a big advantage of the sniper is the long range and on a 3’x3’ board that isn’t as big an advantage.

That smaller size also makes it easier for an AT-RT w/Flamethrower to get into range and light em up though!

Yes, I like the possibility of an AT-RT flamethrower barbeque. I may just try it out next round and see how it performs. With my limited playing time, I'm using this first season to really practice, honestly lol I've only ever played 4 games, and 2 have been in this league 500 point format.

I got Leia & am now considering playing this list sometime. I could easily swap the Rotary Blaster for the Flamethrower.
