Return to the Gathering - am I missing something?

By Schmiegel, in Arkham Horror: The Card Game

Spoilers...this question is in reference to Agenda 3a in the Return to the Gathering scenario. Please stop reading if you don't want to know that part of the story progression...but anyway. On Agenda 3a, there are two Forced outcomes. The first reads .."At the end of the enemy phase: Each unengaged Ghoul enemy moves 1 location towards the Parlor." And, .."at the end of the round: Place 1 doom on this agenda for each Ghoul enemy in the Hallway or Parlor.

The problem is, there is no Hallway or Parlor in the Return to the Gathering scenario. The new scenario card instructs you to remove the original Hallway location from the game. There is no replacement for it. There is a new location called "The Guest Hall", however. So maybe that is supposed to be the equivalent of the "Hallway"..? I kind of doubt it, somehow, as this sort of thing just never happens with this game, which is fantastic. There was a Parlor in the original scenario, but no replacement for it, and it isn't mentioned in the setup instructions on the reverse side of the new scenario card, where all the other locations ARE mentioned. There is an instruction to set "each other location" aside, out of play. Maybe that is meant to include the original copy of the Parlor..?

The new copy of the Study location states: "Forced - When an enemy attempts to spawn at a location that is not in play: Put that location into play and spawn that enemy there." It doesn't mention anything about when an enemy attempts to move there. If it did, that might help answer the mystery about what to do with ghoul enemies when they attempt to move to the Parlor. (Which seems to not actually even exist in the updated scenario unless the Parlor from the original scenario is what's referred to, even though it's not mentioned at all in the rules update on the back of the new scenario card.)

It makes me think I'm missing something....like, say, new Agenda cards that were supposed to come with the Return to the Gathering? There is no mention of any such thing, again, on the new scenario card, which contains the new setup instructions. So I don't really think that's the problem either. Has anyone else run into this issue? What am I missing here? There must be something. Thanks in advance for any help!!

Slight spoiler warning, but this issue resolves itself at the end of the first act.

The Hallway is part of the new locations, though it doesn't appear so at first. The Parlor shouldn't be removed from the game, just set aside.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the replies! Good to know.

It is. Double-check the setup card: You are explicitly told to remove the original Hallway and Study, as well as one random Basement and Attic, from the game. There is no such instruction for the Parlour, so it gets set aside with the other locations in the final step.

In general, the "Return to X" sets are added to the original encounter sets. The replacement sets are denoted with an arrow, as seen with "Ghouls of Umordoth" replacing "Ghouls" on the same setup card. When playing Return to the Gathering, you use both "The Gathering" and "Return to the Gathering," except for those cards you're explicitly told to remove.

If an enemy attempts to move towards a location that isn't in play, it stays where it is.

Thank you rsdockery! Much appreciated, that's extremely helpful.
