If this is answered elsewhere, I apologize. I did a quick search but didn’t really find anything.
horseman of war’s play effect reads : “for the remainder of the turn, each friendly creature can be used as if they were in the active house, but can only fight.”
Does this mean all creatures of non active houses are considered active and can fight (meaning actual active characters can reap/ action), or all creatures out of house are considered active, and all creatures regardless can only fight. I’ve seen arguments on both sides.
In favor of it just applying to out of house characters:
- the placement of the “but only fight” clause seems to modify “each friendly creature, which is the subject of the previous clause.
- It seems similar to “anger”, which doesn’t completely preclude an in-house creature from reaping if there is no one to fight.
In favor of it applying across the board:
- thematically it makes more sense. War would make everyone fight.
- The “active house” clause is there to address situations in which war is played out of house, like a wild wormhole or phase shift.
- This is how the crucible applies the rule (although it’s been wrong before).
Any assistance/explanation is appreciated
