Darth Vader Officer

It seems to me that Vader will be an auto-include in any imperial list that doesn‘t use Vader Commander. For just 1 point and at least one other one use officer (even a usefull skilled first officer for one point) will be worth it. And that‘s a card that comes only with the 200 Bucks SSD. I will get a SSD, but i don‘t like it.

I'll use him just for giggles. Nothing represents imperial doctrine more, than killing your own officers to make more attacks.

Do u mean you don't like the ssd, or you don't like the card? haha

Erm, imo Vader isn't really an auto include. Sure he is 1 point but he takes up the officer slot for a ship. Plonk him in a gozanti maybe, but then you have to sacrifice other officers on their respective ships just so those ships can choose-reroll an attack once. I think he will be good with several cheap officers that don't have uses after early game(Ozzel, Titus, Gherent, Pryce) but several others like Brunson and Yularen can benefit into the late game and so don't really sync with officer Vader. It really depends on how you want to build your fleet.

I agree such a useful card being locked up in the ssd exp is kinda painful though. Yet considering Vader as a unique name has multiple good options to field instead(commander, boarding teams, squadron) and the substitution factor makes him less of a need in a fleet and more as another good option. :)

All the new cards in the ssd are uniques, and I'm sure some admirals want 2(or more!) ssds. If not buying the ssd, one could probably pm them or wait on the aftermarket for some to sell off the uniques(I think ffg did consider this to prevent card lockup)

So you play imperial but don't want to buy an SSD ?

Or you are mad that people pay 200$ and get good cards for their money?

What's the logic here?

I just think Vader will be the new Palpatine from X-Wing. (And just reading this i‘ve to laugh about it) I got the feeling that for 200$ i will get an impressive model for my shelf and a cheap upgrade for playing the game. Ok, this is all without knowing epic rules. Hope it‘s worth it.

Hey man be careful posting images like that they clearly don't want us talking about the only new thing we'll have for a 2 year span.

So, this card makes me wonder what you do in a campaign like CC. I mean, if you use it, do you get the discarded officer back for the next battle? That seems like it doesn’t make sense, but you don’t need to repurchase other cards that get discarded when used...

Thus is why you have a fleet list.

Unless the game tells you to do something with your fleet list, it doesn’t change and you rebuild your fleet from the list.

... Just assume Tarkin is looking over Vader’s shoulder.

No everytime Vader kills an officer you have to use a sharpie to draw a moustache on the officer card to retain him.

In this case he plays nice and only chokes them into unconsciousness. He can kill them after gaining control of the Corellian sector.

Thank you, that was the thing I needed to make sense of. As Drasnighta pointed out, the rules are already clear — I just couldn’t get my imagination around it before.

There is a reason he says, "For the Last Time." When he actually kills them... its so they can fail him before that.

In one of the Robot Chicken Episodes:

Vader: "You've failed me commander"
Another officer: "If you let him live, he could fail you again"
