Gonna say no, as the A-wing says you can only “rotate” to the front or back, and during setup it says you can “rotate” the mobile arc of a ship to an arc of your choice.

Nice. And thank goodness.

There's enough ambiguity in the Rules As Written (unless there is a specific addendum included with the Resistance A-Wing?) that I would say sideways guns could be valid. Specifically, does "rotate" apply to setup? Given the ambiguity, I'd say it's up to a ruling by the TO / Marshall / Judge, and I'd think they'd say side arcs are invalid.

Heres' the full text for "Turret Arc" (Rules Reference Version 1.0.2, Page 4, emphasis mine):

Quote

Unlike other arcs, some weapons use turret arc indicators to select arcs. There are two types of turret arc indicators: single turret (<single turret>) and double turret (<double turret>). During setup, a ship with a primary (or special) <single turret> or <double turret> weapon adds the corresponding turret arc indicator to its base.

The turret arc indicator points toward one of the ship’s four standard arcs. The standard arc that the turret arc indicator is pointing toward is a <single turret> in addition to still being a standard arc. While a ship performs a <single turret> attack, it can attack a target that is in its <single turret> arc.

Text from the A-Wing card, for reference:

Quote

Refined Gyrostabilizers: You can rotate your <single turret> indicator only to your <forward arc> or <rear arc>.

I think it's covered in the Rules Reference, p. 16, under the "Setup" entry. A-Wings rotate their arc during setup, which means they can only rotate to the front or back arcs.

Concur.

Also, this is one of those cases where Wheaton's Law applies.

No, A wings, which have guns which can shoot forwards or backwards, can't shoot frelling sideways.

Good find @Hobologist . No more ambiguity.
