End Phase timing

By Lyianx, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Logically, i know how this should go, but as written, its kind of ambiguous.

"During End Phase" is a trigger for some abilities. But the game doesn't state specifically when automatic mechanics happen, if they override player abilities, or if one always happens before another.

For instance.

Quote

During the End Phase, all circular tokens are removed from all ships. Then, each card with a recurring charge icon recovers one charge.

Logically, i would think this process happens at the End of the End phase. But can players decide when during the End Phase this happens?

Quote

Lieutenant Tavson
After you suffer damage, you may spend 1 Icon charge to perform an action.

+

Electronic Baffle
During the End Phase, you may suffer 1 Icon damage hit damage to remove 1 red token.

If Tavson is stressed (for example), can he use Baffle to suffer a damage, remove the stress, then spend a charge, to perform a Reinforce/Focus/Jam action, After the trigger to remove all round tokens?

Logically speaking, i would say no, that mandatory game mechanics happen last after player abilities. But the wording in the rules doesn't enforce that.

This little nugget is from p3 of the Rules Reference under Ability Que :

Quote

• If there are game effects that share the same timing window as a player’s ability, the game effect is resolved first.

Because of this, your order of operations when attempting this combo should go something like this:

During end phase game effects:

-> remove green tokens

-> restore charges

-> During end phase player effects:

-> Electronic Baffle to remove red token and suffer damage

-> suffer damage triggers Tavson to take an action

Just remember that your available actions are still restricted by what actions have already been taken this round.

Ahh.. Its under ability queue. Should have known to look there.

So in effect, its possible for Tavson to carry over round tokens into the next turn.
