Definition of 'Damaged'

By Gallanteer, in X-Wing Rules Questions

I understood this to mean that a ship is 'damaged' if the ship is below its starting health. Ie if it has shields, its list at least one or if not originally shielded, it has a damage card.

This applies to Wullffwaro in the Rebels and Null in First Order.

Also, is there a distinct difference between 'damaged' and 'suffer damage' as noted on Stealth Device?

I realise it might come down to RaW. I'm more interested to make sure I'm playing Wullffy right - I didn't ever get him during 1e.

Damaged = 1 (or more) damage cards.

I suspected as much. The bit that annoys me is that losing shields is also 'suffering damage' (Stealth Device) but you're not actually damaged. RaW I suppose but for me the logic of 'suffering damage' and yet you may not be 'damaged' by the end of it because you have shields to spend, makes no sense. If I have spent shields I am therefore still undamaged and therefore haven't suffered any actual damage.

Don't think of it in terms of english-language logic. Because it's not. It's a keyword.

'Damaged' doesn't mean 'the condition of having suffered damage' it means 'has received at least one damage card' which can occur without ever suffering damage (Seyn Marana's ability).

It could be called 'herbleflerp' for all the relevance the word used has to what the keyword means.

Damage and Damaged

are different words... do not try and put them together as the same thing.
