Installations

By FTS Gecko, in Star Wars: Armada

So, with the giant silhouette of the SSD looming on the horizon, I was wondering if there was room in Armada for if not quite as massive, pther big models?

Say (for example) the Scarif Shield Gate. Or XQ Platforms?

And while we're at it, would the introduction of static installations add anything to the game? And how would they change it?

The introduction of static and occasionally independent installations in the Corellian Conflict didn't seem to change much at all, as simply as they were implemented.

Static based things (that still get defensive measures) don't really fit the bill of 'exciting' in Armada, since we're all so leery about Slow-Rolling play with what we have to start with, the only thing that stops true fortressing is, indeed, the lack of defensiveness...

I'm sure there's room for them, but I'm simply not enthused about them any more than what we have in the Campaign, where they work pretty seamlessly.

I think they ought to come out with a new campaign box with installations as you describe them, specifically the shield gate at Scarif with objectives that push scenario play more than they currently are. Straight up kill the other fleets are fun but I think Armada is perfect for forcing games to be won based on the scenario. The Battle of Scarif being a good example- steal the Death Star plans for 8 Tournament Points or something like that.

I also think that stuff like the shield gate or other large installations could be printed on the same material as the play mats (maybe slightly less thick). Makes them easy to transport and placement in game is as flexible as everything else.
