The only reason she does these days is shopping for me. I can only imagine how bad it is for a woman actually trying to play. I know @duck_bird had a few creepers at NOVA that talked to me about her. It was the same with both of those idiots: 1) "wow a girl that can play, lol" and 2) "I don't see her husband around, so I'm gonna take a pass lol." Thankfully, neither were Armada players and neither of them actually followed through. I hope I had something to do with that, but I can't know for sure. Sadly, I imagine these types of passing chuckleheads are all too common for female gamers, which drives down participation. It's a ridiculous thing to see this day and age, but here we are.
Huh. Yeah I very intentionally wear both my wedding and engagement rings to nerd events just for this reason. It's easier to say "I'm taken," than it is to say "I'm here to play space boats, not meet men."
I've encountered plenty of incredibly sexist stuff in my gaming career, but again Armada has been the lightest offender by far.

See, that's where you went wrong. If you're not shouting some form of "not interested" when you enter a room and introducing yourself with an excuse for why you arent attracted to the person you're talking to, you're asking for sexual harassment.

Now, before I get politically incorrect, I have to say the armada community is better than most. That being said.
Men are totally the problem. Saying women should just adapt is bull. Imagine you were at a tournament and one of your opponents made a comment about your ***. How would you feel?
How would you feel if someone grabbed your breast? They were just joking though.
How would you feel if when your girlfriend came by for a role playing game, this guy kept trying to ask her out. And when she mentioned having a girlfriend, the guy thought it was appropriate to ask for a threesome?
Now, this type of stuff happened with 40k and warmachine, but the same logic applies. Who should change their behavior?
Once again I don't care who I play. Stop insinuating I'm ok with or do these things.
When did I say any of this was ok? Nice straw man there. All I said is why can't a group of men have a space(not the store, just their gaming group) to themselves? Some only want to play with a certain group and I understand why. And in your very comment you just said men are bad and should feel bad and then go on to say none of this happened playing armada. This is why some men don't want to play with women because they are pre-judged as born wrong and must walk on eggshells.
Any bullying is bad m'kay. But you're living in a dream world if you think only men bully or are dicks to people and you are a hypocrite if you think a group of women can make a place only for them but a group of man cannot.

You said that it part of the problem was women not adapting.
Men can have a space to themselves. But we should examine why men want that. Just like we examine that question with women.
I didnt say none of it happens in armada, it's just better. I had a guy explain to me that lesbians weren't a real thing.
Lol no one is pre judging you buddy. I only find men creepy when they are actively being creepy.
I'm not saying all men are evil. I'm saying that the problem lies within the population of men almost entirely.

And coming in with this kind of chip on your shoulder is exactly why you're met with resentment, imagined or otherwise.

First off, what resentment?
Second off, recognizing and shutting down inappropriate behavior, and noticing it comes from men mostly is hardly chip on my shoulder.

Umm, yeah. For the record: NOBODY "asks for sexual harassment." That's a really ignorant statement to make, and it's victim blaming that is unwelcome in this discussion thread or any other.

??? nothing @Teh HOBO said indicated resentment to me and you got to admit that telling people homosexuality in women does not exist is not a very appropriate topic of converstation during a game and also wrong.

Ya @Teh HOBO 's views are interesting because they're pretty reasonable.
Oh and don't worry, you're at nooooo risk of being politically incorrect when you're bashing men.
If someone made a joke about my member I would be a man and laugh it off cause its not worth getting upset. It was probably made in jest to be fun, which if anything is a sign they are very comfortable around you and treat you like one of the guys and accept you into the group. That or the person is lacking so badly in the social skills department that I would feel sorry for them. Its SO rare that people actually make comments to be spiteful, and if its in a tournament setting its probably someone just trying to play head games with you - which is being hyper competitive (welcome to the do-or-die world of a man, you wanted in, here you go).
You want to bring up groping? If ever there was a double standard I cannot think of a better one than this. You know what happens when men get groped by women? People laugh and tell us to suck it up, they even do so publicly. No one would dare to tell a women to laugh off being groped publicly. Some feminists even try to rationalize this position which is just undermines their claim to stand for equality.
And ya, men do need and in many cases want time away from women, nothing wrong with men that want time away from their wives and girlfriends to talk dirty, play some games, drink some beer and say what they want and have a laugh while doing so to blow off steam. Women in this regard are no different, they'll get together do their own thing and talk dirty as well and I got no problem with that.
When this thread started off just as a way to for women to find each other in this community I thought it was great, but it quickly devolved into a bunch of anti-men rhetoric which I wish I could say I was surprised but I'm not. For crying out loud we can't even have a forum to talk about plastic spaceships without this kind of victim-mentality nonsense creeping in.

If you are a stranger and you make a sexual comment about my body, I'm going to call over the judge and have them watch our game. There is head games and there is sexual harassment.
So, something most of my real life friends know about me, is that I'm a dungeon monitor for a decently sized group. We treat all consent incidents the same regardless of gender.
You can blow off steam without being casually misogynistic or misandric.
You seem to view yourself as pretty victimized there bud. Viewing women sharing their experiences as an attack on all men.
Edited by ExplosiveTookaI didn't say a lot of the things people are saying I did here so I'll make it simple:
If a group of dudes want to have a "no girls allowed club" let them. I explained the reasons some do(bullying, anxiety, comfort level) only to have some say I condone sexual assault wtf? We don't force a group of women to let men in their space, for Pete's sake I've seen women harassing a male only barbershop. Women can be horrible people too at the same rate as men.
@ExplosiveTooka Please stop with the straw men no one here is condoning sexual assault. We are explaining(poorly sometimes, I apologize if I misspoke) why some men don't like playing with women, the same reason some women don't like to play with men, sometime people are ****.

What you are condoning is an environment where women dont feel welcome. And that was an extreme example but also relevant.

And you make sexist jokes without being an actual misogynist, it all depends on the context, who you're saying to and why. If you overhear someone make a joke about a subject you're sensitive to and it wasnt directed at you, choose not to get offended and move on.
Its not the anecdotal experiences of a few women Im chooseling to debate about, just the conclusion at the end of them that men are completely to blame for how they feel.
So how long is it gonna be till this thread gets locked? My guess is the end of the day
Amazing how quickly anything with subsurface will derail on the net.
